Umm... murder mystery VNs? They just make good subject matter for VNs, I suppose. And 999 is the first game in the Zero Escape series. Since the new one was announced, they added a series name, Zero Escape. This makes the full American name Zero Escape: 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors.
