It all makes sense now, I mean, just look at the final screenshot.
If you look closely, you can notice that Balrog's face has 2 orange stripes...2 LIKE CAVE STORY 2!
Also, Balrog is looking upwards, so my theory is that the new final boss is hiding in the ceiling.

Dude, I won't deny that it's exciting to see this news and all, but you can get into some serious trouble for hacking into other people's email accounts and looking at their private correspondence. Pixel and NICALiS are not going to be happy about this, and I wouldn't be surprised if DT does something about this soon.

Those screenshots are from the rumored acquisition from Playism, which Pixel tweeted saying it's photoshopped from Doggy Wyvern's development. Nicalis did announce Cave Story 2, so ofc people would go back to those images.
