• Please stop embedding files/images from Discord. Discord has anti-hotlinking logic in place that breaks links to Discord hosted files and images when linked to from anywhere outside of Discord. There are a multitude of file/image hosting sites you can use instead.

Well... I have an Acer Aspire One with an Intel Atom n450 (64-bit), but I installed 32-bit Windows 7 on it, so... it works like magic. Although sometimes it freezes really badly. But, thanks to this PC, I was able to conclude that CaveEditor is already defective XD

U know I had an idea for making a better CaveEditor, but sadly the guy who released the source code, released a old version and it is completely broken. Hell even trying to run the source grants you with an error message.

@Banana Man 4577 - Hello there! Just happened to see this... That's a noble pursuit! Let's see if I can't come up with anything. Though you didn't give me any reference for types of games or potentially how old it can be.
Hmm. Well I've been collecting far more than I have been playing. Besides the ones I mentioned last year, FREERIDE, PEPPERED, SANABI (The latter two both have updates since I played it last, with new content! Have yet to play them.)...
I played a game called Alice's World (278 reviews?), which is a game concept along a somewhat similar vein to Oneshot, though darker. (Avoid spoilers?) I could see wildly different reactions, whether you might appreciate it or not. Though I personally very much enjoyed getting into a roleplaying perspective, thinking about my actions carefully. And felt rewarded with the outcome. There's not a whole lot of action and it is a short game, but it had its impact. Worth a look:

I also played through the original version of MIO: Memories in Orbit earlier this year... Not really niche though. (2087 reviews!) It's a pretty decent platformer, very beautiful; quite fun to explore. Somewhat lacking in dialogue, but has a very interesting setting... The unpatched version I played upon release might have been a little harder than the current version which addresses some complaints and other balancing. Not my favorite game...? But definitely worth a look regardless. Do love a good metroidvania.

If you don't mind an older game (2022) I'll mention Curse Crackers (355 reviews) being an excellent 2d platformer with story, secrets and action galore! When on sale it can be very cheap as well... Bonus points if you've played Prodigal (522 reviews) before this! (A previous game with mostly indirect references in CC and a ton of content. Zelda-like game.) I'm sure I've mentioned CC before, but worth reminding since the demo for their next game just released for next fest. Curse Chapter: Dawnthief. I pretty much am a fan of all of their games; so without playing it, I'm already certain it'll be good xD
They also released a niche game recently, which I've yet to get around to playing, but kickstarter backed... Claire a la Mode (44 reviews).

Alabaster Dawn's demo (1548 reviews) is out and updated I think. Not a niche game but... likely to be a very good game if you liked CrossCode (super game!).

Hm... did I mention Grønland? It's an exploration RPG, no combat. (34 reviews) 2024 game. It was quite interesting to figure out the story... Probably not everyone's cup of tea, but definitely more niche.

Or how about 2021 game Rogue Sentry. Very niche (15 reviews). Pretty short, but had a blast if you like games like Remar's Hero Core (another great game, way older and free).

Iji of course is always worth a mention imo. Not exactly niche, but these days it has been long enough, that it might as well be? One of my favorite oldies, also free.
Strawberry Jam, Hyper Princess Pitch, Princess Remedy in a World of Hurt; all other free Remar games. Pretty niche? And he actually has a new game coming out eventually... Tower of Gold. Which ought to be great quality as well. Worth keeping an eye on.

Of course there are Cave Story mods if you haven't played them yet, like Evergreen :D Could make a list of a few others I need to replay sometime... Been too long already. Haven't been around too much :x

Oh Jeez Oh No My Rabbits are Gone!!! (30 reviews) Is a niche game from 2019... Puzzle game. I forget who made it... weren't they members here?
Hm... I suppose I'll mention Kandria too, that game was fun to explore. (71 reviews) Certainly had more potential than how it ended up, but with its nods to CAve Story and other games I figure it's worth bringing up!

At this point I'm getting carried away xD Hopefully something catches your eye.
Freedom Planet isn't niche (3,263 reviews), but I really did enjoy that game as a fan of the original Sonic the Hedgehog 2d platformers... Was a lot of fun. Played the dragon, Lilac first. And will always remember how close I came from getting a game over on the final boss. Think I had like 30 lives entering the fight and was down to my last life by the end... barely won xD YES!!!!!

A visual novel called Minotaur (287 reviews), is getting pretty close to completion after like 10+ years in development... Lots of unforeseen circumstances and they ran out of money, but I've been wanting to play the completed thing someday... Several routes are already out, and I can easily recommend it for an adventure sci-fi story... (Only played Nod's route).

I have a ton more games that might better fulfill your request, but uh... I haven't gotten around to playing many recent ones! So can't judge if they are worthy. If you wanted something in particular though, I'd suggest saying if it's for your own entertainment, or for streaming; maybe what genre, or what kind of games are your favorites. Then could try to guess a better choice.

Dark mode can be disabled in browser settings. There are generally three options:
  1. System default (typically manifests as light mode during the day and dark mode at night)
  2. Light mode (as in making it so it is always light mode)
  3. Dark mode (as in making it so it is always dark mode)

so uh i just got a closer look, and the '0' in 'Lv 0' looks very different from the other numbers... unless this is intentional for reasons we're not supposed to know yet, you probably want to keep all them numbers in a consistent style?
