• Please stop embedding files/images from Discord. Discord has anti-hotlinking logic in place that breaks links to Discord hosted files and images when linked to from anywhere outside of Discord. There are a multitude of file/image hosting sites you can use instead.

The day before yesterday I was kind of bored so I started doodling things in the style of Cave Story, and I created this little thing here. I'm thinking of creating a mini-game using these sprites. My idea was to put them directly into Cave Story, but I feel that would be too easy... so I'm going to program it myself.

Wouldn't be easier to, I dunno, play a bunch of recent mods and leave behind reviews? Gives you plenty reason to post so long as you don't just leave behind "Mod good, next".

What does it mean for a mod to be Vanilla?

It dephends a little on the context since we also refer to freeware as the "Vanilla engine" compared to things like CSE2 or d-rs.

But usually it's that the game does not make use of heavy modifications through things like ASM hacks or LUA scripting.
Basically mainly sticking to map/script/sprite edits, with maaaybe a couple minor tweaks here and there.

Of course vanilla graphics/music refers to not editing the sprites/music.
