I know we already have a standard "favorite game track" thread, but I thought it might be nice to leave our retro/chiptune fanboyism behind for a moment and show some appreciation for some newer tracks from newer games.

I won't strictly define "modern," but think non-chiptunes from the last 6-7 years or so.

Raiden IV is an awesome game by the way, with an equally awesome soundtrack (which it comes with). I'd really suggest it if you like shmups.

I mean this might even be better than can you feel the sunshine seriously

I mentioned Wild Arms 3 in the other thread like a couple seconds ago

also brawl and melee's soundtracks were sweet because professional remix

I was about to post some Diablo or Planescape Torment music but dammit they're more than 8 years old!

Since Wind Waker is :J, and I think you could consider it modern, the theme song is one of my favorite songs.

Go ahead, I was trying to say I don't care if people stretch their own opinions on the term "modern."

I must concur that the Wind Waker sound track is awesome. Here's a modern twist on an old classic:

I'd have to go with the Touhou series, which has countless amazing tracks spanning the games. The most memorable original track, that is, hasnt been remixed, is from Subterranean Animisms Utsuho Reiuji's boss theme. She's the final regular boss and has an epic theme. She's popuarly known as "Nuclear Fusion Girl" and is notable for her brutality before beauty danmaku style.

How about something more underrated? Drawn To Life, on the DS, has a lovely little soundtrack. But i have to go for, again, the final battle against Wilfre. What can i say, i love final boss themes, and this one is so ridiculously over the top.

Finally, yeah, another boss theme XD. Yeah, this time, the final boss of Klonoa 2 Lunateas Veil, the King of Sorrow. It's notable because its percussion in particular is beautiful.

I got Braid the other day, and I'm gonna have to add this here.

Such a soothing song, and it goes so well with the game.

Love this song, love the user who uploads them :3 her rendition of Great Temple from Zelda II is particularly awesome.
I actually am learning the same sheet music she is using for this song.

Creepy coincidence...

Well, these are my favorite gaming songs in the history of video game music. The first one is by far the best.
Ace Attorney Cornered themes

Meanwhile, this one is so amazing; it simply defies all description.
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon 2 Primal Dialga Remix

Other notable mentions:
Time for the March to Ruin- The epic, emotional theme that plays in Heroes of Mana during the final battle with Anise.

And Thus Fate Becomes Cruel- Another epic, emotional theme from Heroes of Mana that plays when you fight your main character's closest friend and again when you fight your fiancee.

An Empty Tome- The best song from the best Castlevania ever, Order of Ecclesia.
