I was going to make a Myspace Cave Story. Using most of the artwork from the Deluxe and other fan made. Put the music up there and other stuff.

Of course...

The artwork that comes with Deluxe would probably be alright, mind you give credit to Pixel still :)
But, when you say 'fan made', like all the art in the Cave Story Fanart thread, yeah you're going to need permission first.
Moreover than just being polite, most people dislike the use of something they've worked on without their permission, and sometimes without even proper credit.
{I once had some guy steal the shabby LMAP picture in my signature. It was both random and frustrating}
Anyways, it's rather simple to just ask, and it hardly ever results in a no. {Pretty sure everyone that was active in the Fanart thread said 'yes' when andwhyisit asked to host them on the tribute site}
I'm guessing the toughest time you would have is locating everyone to ask, but it's easy to just look over the member list and ask on their profile page.
Same would go for music and other stuff, of course.
{I'm speaking in generalization, so don't expect a yes from everyone, but a large part of this forum is rather generous}

Re: Of course...

Just do it.
If some one complains... tell them to fuck off.
Or be a nice guy and add a copyright note :)

And before you flame me:
This it how it goes.
You add something and if someone has a copyright complain, you remove it on their wish.
Laziness ftw.

Well, on the odd chance anything of mine comes up, feel free to use and abuse it. :]
(Heh... Cause I'm so known for my fanart around these parts. .-.)

Yes, but made much clearer and without the flamebaiting.

Thanks for all the feedback on this. I was most certainly going to give credit, I learned my mistake on Youtube. I forgot to mention Copyright for Nintendo.

How does a Collage sound for the background.

Just what I would expect.
But don't rely on me.
I hate the Internet.

You should ask before you use them, otherwise you could get into some serious trouble.
Plus without asking you would acting like a total dickhead.

Two points:
1.) Your discretion, anyways.
2.) Nobody 'respects' copyrighting beyond those with actual content. :p

Which sucks. I can understand that people want to download music for free, but using other peoples music without permission (no matter if it's comercial music or not), is just acting like a super dick. (Fanworks beeing the only exception)
