I don't really like Spelunky either. I massively prefer strategic roguelikes to action-oriented ones. If I fuck up and die permanently, I want it to be because of a mistake I can learn from for the next run. With Spelunky it's just a matter of getting good at platforming and reacting quickly, which requires a lot of mistakes being made. Not fun in a roguelike.
