Why is it so bad to get the minigun/machine gun?

i got the machine guy from curly and i heard its bad to
do that

Also, getting the Machine Gun from Curly makes it impossible to get the best weapon in the game, the Spur (unless you hack).

And what's with the random line break?

Of course it isn't.

The Machine Gun is a fine weapon, just as valid as any other, and it's especially good for Cave Story beginners and speedrunners.

Besides, it's not like it would be right of anyone to judge you in your weapon choices, anyway. You're perfectly fine with the Machine Gun.

 

It's a fun weapon too. Get to Lv.3 and you can fly by shooting downwards.

The alternatives are the Snake, which can shoot through walls and the Spur, which at Lv.1 is like a more powerful Lv.3 Polar Star that has the ability to charge into a devastating beam.

 

I'm sick of all these people joining the forums and posting questions.

Err... That's what new members do in any forum... It's not like this is some new recent thing that only this site has.


EDIT: the machine is actually a pretty cool gun, there might be some more unique weapons to trade the polar star for later, but heck it doesn't mean it's a bad weapon.

 

sonic800123, this is my advice: Don't listen to these people telling you not to take the Machine gun. Just take the machine gun, and play through the game normally. Now, if you don't take the machine gun, then there are other things you can do if you still have the Polar Star, but I'd save that for your subsequent playthroughs. That's part of what makes Cave Story so great: it has replay value. When I was new to Cave Story, it was fun for me to experience new things in the game even on my second, third, and fourth playthroughs. Just do what you would naturally do the first time you play it, and try something different the next time around.

this is my first run on cavestory too :T its awesome but Hard as crap. i raged alot ima on the core now and ingored the docotor on accendint and found out that was good And got the tow rope

Nope, can't trade the Machine Gun. It's definitely a good choice for a gun on your first run, definitely.

Welp most of what I was thinking is taken, the machine gun is fun and easy to use but if you keep the Polar Star you can get the Spur... You can also get a gun called the Snake which goes through walls but I don't like it's short range.

One other odd thing you might not think of is that if you rescue Curly and you haven't traded weapons she can use the Machine Gun when she helps you. But I'm not sure it makes that much of a difference.

Fuck these people the whole point of a forum is to learn new things and ask questions, you are doing things perfectly right but next time you should do a quick skim to see if there are any threads that already answer that question or do some other research first.

The Nemesis. You trade the Blade for it. It's for advanced users because it starts off strong and gets weaker as you level it up, so you need to avoid XP Crystals.

Sure. Did you get the Iron Bond from Curly? Though I suppose you don't need it if you don't plan to take on Hell.

 

i heard there is a good end normal and bad illl tell you what i did that may of effeced that and tell me what i got i saved curly from drowning cleaned her out of the water and got 2v boosters and restored her memory i need to know becuase this is my first run in the game!

got the iron bond and where do you get the nemasis because i got boosters and i can miss them i hope.

 

The nemesis is in a house under the Outer Wall. You need to find the little man in the cemetery and bring him to his house at the bottom of the Outer Wall.

The bad ending is where you choose to leave the island with Kazuma.

The good ending is where you defeat the doctor and jump off the island with Sue. This is regardless of whether or not you save Curly.

The best ending is where you defeat the doctor, go to the Prefab Building (the save point on the Balcony), and provided all conditions are met (Booster 2.0, saved Curly, plus holding Iron Bond) you can enter the building, save, take on Hell, and defeat Ballos. If you think that you want to save it for another playthrough then the bookshelf will teleport you back to the balcony so you can choose the good ending.
