Weird Text Errors

Hey! It's been a while since I last played Cave Story, but I wanted to run through it again and do some hell runs. When I tried to reinstall it, though, I had some problems.

Using the file from here, I got this weird problem where the text box had weird rainbow'y colors instead of dull grey (this happened whether I used the translation patch or not).

When I downloaded the version from Home of the Underdogs (pre-patched) I had a different problem; for some reason the text will sometimes stack on the same box of dialogue instead of clearing out:

Anyone know how to fix either error? I'll get screenshots of the other if necessary.

EDIT-One more really weird example; as king talks his text overlaps with stuff that Sue's bro (what's his name again?) said in the preceding scene.

Try downloading the version at www.acid-play.com (look for cave story in top-rated)

It happened to me before lol back when I was trying to make Cave Story work on Windows Vista...

That thread says the guy fixed it by using the Nvidia beta drivers. But this was a year ago, so maybe they implmented the fixes into the newer Nvidia drivers now...

He had a similar problem on XP, he fixed it by disabling directdraw through directx...

From the screenshots MrBucket posted it looks like the same problem I had when trying to run it on Vista.. so that's why I suggested trying the newest drivers

More like thinking of the act of thinking of the act of thinking of the act of thinking of different types of bread rolls.

 

That glitch is always caused by Nvidia drivers, well at least so far it has.

There is also threads about it happening in the CS livejournal and at the Aeon Genesis forum and this would be the third time in these forums.
