Title screen question

Hey, this is my first post here on the forums, so forgive me if this is the wrong place. So, I finally made through Hell and I got the Toroko title screen, but I didn't like it at all, so I tried to beat hell again, then I took more than six minutes, and Toroko is still there. I searched on the web and found a file that would change the title screen for me (290.rec), but when I was going to replace the old one, I couldn't find it. I'm playing CS+ and I suppose that this file is for the original freeware CS. So, is there any way to get back the normal title screen with Quote? Also, sorry for my english, I'm brazillian.

 

Huh, this is interesting. First, I don't think the game actually does the person change thing because I've never had it happen to me... I'd guess it'd be in where all the other .recs are? But it's not...
I think it may be hardsaved into CS+ this time, to prevent others from getting unfair times.

So, you think it's impossible to get the old title screen? Well that's rather disappointing... If i knew that the title screen would change, I would've take more time to beat Hell. That Toroko cursor and that music bothers me.

 

Well...
If you get under 4 minutes (I think), you can get King and have White (the song that plays at the end of each challenge) play.
Otherwise, sorry, looks like you're stuck with Toroko. Anyways, might as well try putting the 290.rec where the CS+ .exe is, just go to SteamApps > Commom > Cave Story+.

 

Send me your CS+ Profile.dat. Maybe it's stored in there? Worth a shot anyhow.

Found it. Using a hex editor like XVI32 zero out the two bytes starting at address 1F054.

 

Sorry for the late response, but I couldn't find that address. I need to find it in Profile.dat right? There is only 1F052

 

You have to use ctrl+G and search for $1F054. It should bring you somewhere around here:

See how it says "1F050" at the side? Counting from left to right, the bytes that say "BF" and "43" are at addresses $1F054 and $1F055. You need to change these two bytes so that they both say "00".
