We know it can teleport the wearer and control Misery and Balrog. Not so much mind control as severe punishment for disobedience. Can it also control enraged Mimigas? Probably, since Miakid's and Date's plan probably wouldn't have gone well if the Mimigas were simply rampaging around the Surface.
I don't see it having any other powers. Most of the benefits come from controlling Misery, who can shoot lightning, teleport anything and strip naked.

You can probably be hypnotized by the thing as well.

(do not use it on me)

I think the crown might have more subtle effects, such as:

Making you smarter (The doctor was able to isolate, extract, and crystallize the essence of the red flowers within a few days of finding out they existed. He may be a doc, but I doubt he was that good.)
Making you INSANE! (insane-er?)
Increases your stamina.
Causes you to develop a taste for eyeball-themed decor.

And maybe some other stuff.

If it only had the power to control others and teleport, though, why would Misery have the thing made in the first place? There must be more to this artifact.

He didn't just now find out about them. He knew about the Crown before arriving on the Island, and I'm guessing he knew about Miakid's plans and thought he could do where the other failed.
The only reason he hadn't instantly started on the Red Flowers was because he couldn't find them, since Jenka had them hidden in a single location...

Pretty sure he was always like that.
Just not openly. :D {He had power to back him up, then}

It goes perfectly with the hat!

Well, bad guys kinda have the habit of always holding out on the heroes, underestimating them greatly, assuming their henchmen can handle them, and always save their best stuff for last.
Which, is always too late, because by that time the hero always get some kick-ass stuff to counter with.
Silly bad guys.

I would like to invoke the rights given to me by pixel and my imagination to postulate that the demon crown has the power to create insta-death spikes and critters. The only problems with these powers is the fact that one cannot take over the world with critters because they are too cute, and just throwing insta-death spikes everywhere quickly limits the productivity of your new world order.

Misery wanted the crown made specifically for the ability to create insta-death spikes, in order to keep balrog from reading her private diary.

I mean, she can make critters herself anyway.

Were the Drolls part of the Demon Crown too?

Of course... Drolls are just grown-up critters. That's why they jump. And shoot stuff.

Scratch that. Drolls are born of earth. Nothing to do with the crown whatsoever. Nope.

They left because their job as supervisors was over.
Then why were they working for the Doctor...?
If the Crown didn't have anything to do with it, what tied them to his will?

Intimidation. Money. Brute force. Misery. Who knows? You don't need magic to be a powerful tyrant, as strange as that sounds.

Were they working for the doctor?

Or was the doctor working for them? Maybe whoever wears the demon crown becomes the pawn of the Drolls, as they execute their carefully laid plans to return civilization to the earth it rose from.

Explains why they just sit there unless provoked. They know that their plans to conquer the world will come to fruition.
Of course, they probably would have been better off trying to kill the assassin of the pawn, Quote. Not very smart masterminds.

Oh, the drolls would have killed quote, except they're terribly nearsighted. That one in the teleporter room doesn't recognize you until you walk right past his face.

Which is also why they need the demon crown wearer to fulfill their schemes

Are the statue carver, drolls, and red demon supposed to be exactly the same? Because they really are.

This is so confusing.

For another thread

There's another discussion on those guys in another thread.
I'm too lazy to find the link, so just check around the theories' section :p;

The red demon is not a droll. He is this:

diph.php

BUT the statue carver is a droll. A droll, blessed with fair-to-average vision, which is why they assign him the task of carving edifices of all their world domination puppet things. Only problem is, numahachi (sp?) has some freakyweird genetic defect that makes him retarded and grow trees out his brain. Carves a nice statue though.

EDIT: to tie this post into the topic of the thread, I propose that the red demon is a fraction of Ballos' personality, which splintered during the intense process of creating the demon crown. The red demon represents his RAGE since ballos himself is HATE and MADNESS. All his nice traits mighta turned into, idunno, kittens, or perhaps some other small domestic animal that may or may not be white, when he flipped out.

Heheh

Y'know, that picture doesn't help much without a Droll one for comparison.
Maybe they all look like that :D
Well, minus the ears.

You know, if I had the time, I'd make a gif to show exactly how not a droll the red demon is. But, since I have an assigmnent due tomorrow, you'll just have to imagine that it would be awesome and it would illustrate my point very well.

Hmm, actually a pretty good theory for jenka's dogs, if you twist it a bit.
