The Powder Toy

Or "Powder" as the file name implements.

Powder is a phisics based simulation game that is soully based around mucking around with solids, liquids, and gasses. There are many matierials to your disposal, such as walls and explosives. You can even make life. Some that dont last very long, and some that will send you FPS straight to hell. The phisics engine this game displays is absolutly wonderful, alowing thing to fly of into random directions when introduced to certain matierials.

I learned about this game watching Nerdᵌ's 3 free game friday #9.

So it's like Falling Sand Game but better?

Is it based on WxSand? or totally new?

 

I've actually never heard of WxSand. I learned about this game today, actually.

I dont recall anything about it beinng inspired by WxSand. It might be new.

it's a super-moddable FSG, open source too. I played with it a lot when I was in high school. There might be a thread on this forum somewhere but idk if it's still around.

There's a web toy that's a lot like it too.

 

I've played that too, Hate9. I was obsessed with it when I first discovered it.

 

I like Powder Toy, but its community is mostly unable to create something or even an idea that is original. The inventions get repetitive fast

 

FINALLY SOMEONE MENTIONED THIS GAME.

Though I honestly don't think there is much to do that is innovative. All I mostly do is creating some planet or something with active tectonics. It failed miserably.

 

These are always loads of fun. Especially like the radioactive elements and black holes

 

I usually make "torches" and then see what chaos I can come up with.
Plasma torches, fire torches, cold flame torches...
...
Can't believe how much has changed since I last played this in 2011.
