There's quiet a few people who play good ol' Starcraft here, enough to even create a group for it.
So, lately I've seen some of these Battle Reports for Starcraft II. Really, I hate previews, because they just make me want the game so much that I can't stand it!
Thus, I've tried to detach myself from II in order to avoid the horrible wait that was inevitably following. {This was years ago}
But these Battle Reports, they're so amazing that they've completely rekindled all my feelings for this beloved game's sequel.

I just finished watching Report 3, and while the announcers were pretty silly {They sound like they were announcing an amazing score in Football as the Probe successfully prevented the Drone from expanding onto a second base}, I found myself cheering with them.
What I've seen so far from the game looks pretty damn awesome {Although, it seems almost too much like the first one. But that's both a good and bad thing, and really more over an opinion}, and they've announced they're extremely close to releasing the Beta, and then the actual game after that. {Supposedly it's coming out by the end of this year, which is kinda close}

But anyways, how are you guys holding out to the hype?
I again cannot wait for the release.
Belonging almost fully to the UMS crowd, I've fallen in love with what they've promised in the new editor. Including the removed Beta units? Damn awesome.
There's also all the cool looking new stuff with the terrain and actual maps, causing more focus on controlling key points then was ever experienced in the first one.
Then, again it seems a lot like the first one, which makes me wonder how quickly bored we could get of it....

So, discuss!

Aye, he has a point there, fire. He did saw a FEW.

Sorry, can't join, Lowell, I don't have starcraft II.

I do, however have TF2.

But that's besides the point.

You obviously fail to understand the meanings of your words.

I remember hearing they were coming out with this AGES ago. Is it still not done? Good grief.

Never actually played Starcraft myself, I was always more of an AoE guy. I think that if it's a bit like the original it won't be a bad thing, because that's what you loved in the first place right? But since they're taking so long I also imagine that there's bound to be plenty of new content.

But this is the discussion of what SCII looks like so far.
It's not out yet :rolleyes:;
And the original is over a decade old, now.

Well, assuming few typically means three, and the group is about three times that amount, I'd say I understand what I say pretty well.
Although, I guess it's more of an opinion, but this discussion belongs somewhere else.
Really, five minutes back and this is what I'm welcomed with? Thanks :rolleyes:

Yeah, they announced it about 7 years ago, now. And they said they had been working on it slightly longer than that.
The thing I'm worried about for it being too much like the original is getting bored of it too quickly.
"Hey, I've done this a thousand times in the original!"
Stuff like that.
But, I guess that's just me :D;

They're working on Diablo 3. Nate says he played both at BlizzCon and that Starcraft wasn't very good. Keep in mind that he isn't much of a Starcraft player.

Push, push, push!

I originally thought the release date was sometime by the end of this year {Pretty close!}, especially after reading several supporting articles, but this 'official' one states something else...
A small bit of disappointment came from Activision today after they confirmed that StarCraft II will not be released on its original schedule. Rather than coming out in the second half of this year, the game has been pushed back to the first half of 2010. Though disappointing to eager fans, the delay is not surprising. Not only had Blizzard put themselves up against a wall with a tight time window for the beta, it also claimed numerous times before that if delays were necessary they would implement them.

Blizzard attributed the delay to needing additional development time for Battle.net, which may be beneficial in the long run for the game's success. The company has a lot riding on StarCraft II, so making sure it is polished and ready for the world is going to be important – particularly so since they hope for all StarCraft fans to be shelling out for three separate boxes to get the complete game.
Damn, next year?
I know I've preached about waiting for Cave Story, but that's been about a year or so wait, this has been going on for seven....
And that's only counting the time since the official announcement, not the time since the first one was released and players dreamed of a sequel to match it.... {Over a decade ago}
Well, I'm disappointed again >.>;

Fire's right, you fail to understand the words you post.

"Quite a few" is an idiom, which although it uses the word few (which often stands for smaller quantities) it really means : An indefinite and somewhat large number; more than a few but fewer than a lot; a fair number of. (http://www.allwords.com/word-quite+a+few.html)
Or : much or many. (http://idioms.thefreedictionary.com/quite+a+few)

Please look up a phrase before you assume it's meaning, especially if you're going to tell someone that THEY'RE wrong when they're telling you how to use it right.

Really?

Really? I never knew that.
I've been hearing it used wrongly for awhile, then o.o;
I stand corrected. {Proof like this would've been nice in the first place, though}

What, so you just use words without even knowing their meaning?

Hard than it seems

Really, I thought I knew the real meaning.
But now I see I'm wrong.

Anyways, I've chatted with some other friends who play Starcraft with me a lot, and I was a little surprised at how they're either caring little or not at all about the release of the sequel....
Of those of you who have actually played the original, are you planning on getting it anytime soon after it's released?
I think I'm getting it as soon as it hits the shelves :D;

Eh, I'm not gonna get it for a few years.
My computer couldn't handle it.
'Sides, I'm a little to absorbed with Total Annihilation at the moment.
And, as anyone who's played both will tell you, TA > SC
Oh yeah!
I had an idea for a total conversion mod pack for TA...
Heh.
4 factions...
4 elements...
4 unique play styles...
Must balance... @_@
Wheeeee~

Well, I am a Starcraft fan, but not a very good RTS player, so I'm probably not going to get it (I mean, not right away). Also NEOT (Not Entirely Off-Topic): Why the hell is everyone going nuts about SC2, but doesn't give a shit about Diablo 3?

People have been giving Diablo 3 bad reviews, and there's a lot of "innovations" that were branching too far from what a Diablo game should be (i. e., bright and sunny, colorful, either too fast-paced or too slow-paced depending on area, etc.)

Should we create a DIII thread?

A.k.a. the whole franchise is Ruined FOREVER! I can't help but notice that people are dismissing everything that's different from D2 as bad. Colorful graphics? Yeah, because Real Is Brown. I remember my reaction when I first heard about the Health Orbs that are dropped by enemies in the game. It was something along the lines "WTF? Orbs? Where'r mah pots?? NOOOOOOOOO!" Then I realized that what the creators said (that the orbs force the player into more battles rather than the opposite) is true, and if I can have more fighting with less non-fighting shopping for potions, it can't be that bad.
Well, there are still two things that I hate about D3. One, it's noticeably slower than D2. And I do mean slower. For me, Diablo 2 has always been about the fast action, but now we're getting back to Diablo 1. Remember that? Noone plays that after he's tried out D2. Two, the Inventory Management Puzzle. Yeah, this is my own example of They Changed It, Now It Sucks, but really, what is one of the first things that you imagine when you hear "Diablo"? The inventory grid, that's what. This is what made me love and hate the game simultaneously, and so I can't accept the WoW-style inventory in D3. Plus, I hate WoW.
Yeah, so I don't think the game is perfect, but I still want to try it out, give it a chance to be as good as its predecessors. Hardcore fans, you are dumb.

tl;dr: There is no reason to not play D3, and I'm hopelessly addicted to TV Tropes.

Yeah, im totally pissed at them for doing that (as is alot of people in the starcraft community),i think they have good reasons for it, but seriously, removing lan in a multiplayer game like that, its like digging their own grave, but we'll see what happens until its released, who knows they might give lan back, also pigs may grow wings and begin to fly, also the floating island will become reality ._. do i need to keep going? lol
