Referrer website?

Why is it mandatory to choose a referrer website when registering? I found this website through Google, but that wasn't an option.

 

I guess the early administrators (SkyeWelse, Shirofan, PenPen, darkannex) were interested to see where people were coming to the forums from (which makes sense in the early stages of forumhood when it's hard just to get enough people to have a reasonable level of activity). Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think the current administrators/moderators/staff are really so interested in that anymore. Perhaps the feature should be removed? Or else add an option like "found through a search engine" or "other".

 

The only person with the power to change that, who will also read this and possibly respond to it, is MetaSeraphim, who is not allowed to change anything because she is trying to take over teh frumz.
So deal with it. Just pick the Cave Story site, that's why everyone comes here.
