I'm performing a poll to see which programming languages people know on the CSTSF.
This information should hopefully be kept around so people writing things that will be used by the CSTSF know what to write them in (or what to use as the scripting language)
Not much more that could be said, so I'll just post the topic now.

(EDIT3 starts here, which overwrites EDIT2 and EDIT1.)

The following can be extrapolated:
Everybody knows TSC (24 votes of 29 total)
Almost nobody likes Lua
Gamemanj should have done this poll before writing NICE-Lua

Not really, TSC is more of a scripting language. Cave Story's TSC scripts are read by the exe in the .tsc format that we save them as, and are interpreted at run time for the specific purpose of executing commands on a map in Cave Story. Most programming languages are compiled into machine language for more general use, which TSC scripts are not.

Neither is Java, unless you count the JIT, and Lua doesn't even have that...
(EDIT: Though if TSC is a practical language for development is obvious: it isn't)

Javascript, PHP, Gameboy Z80 ASM (although it's been a while), some TSC, some ASP.NET, and I've tinkered with C++.

Seriously, do away with the poll, you will hit the option limit long before you can accommodate everyone.

But php is a common language, I would imagine it to be more common than python or lua. Look at any website with server-side processing (any website worth knowing about), the vast majority use php.

It's an embeddable scripting language.
And I thought it was relatively well-known.

I wouldn't say that I really "know" any programming languages - I'm still just a dumb learning child! - so I put down the ones that I'm sort of familiar with. This past year of class taught me a little bit of Visual Basic (haha okay ^_^; ), and this next year's class will be getting into the presumably much more practical Java! I've also been messing about in and learning of C++ in my spare time this summer (the spare time that I don't waste on needless video games and videos and such, anyway...). Obviously I've also used TSC before, and while I was a little better at reading up than most beginners I can't say that I'm great at that either because EnlightenedOne exists and I didn't even finish my beginner mod before various computer-related disasters struck. I really should give modding another serious go now that I have a stable laptop of my own, but I'm not sure where to start. Lastly, while I've edited assembly code before, I'm very much incapable of understanding what any of it is and just followed others' directions, so I can't really count that.

I'm still not very good at much of anything, but then few people (if any) are born great at these things. Hopefully some practice and study will serve me well in the future. :3
