Pixel at GDC

For all you [future] game developers out there, Pixel's going to be holding a lecture at this year's GDC (San Francisco).

Is anyone here willing to plunk down the cash? It's not cheap, I tells ya.

950 was the cheapset one. If you want an all-access pass and wait until you get there to buy it, is $2100

Actually I notice that the first pre-purchase date is expired. The minimum admission is now $1350

Sure it would be amazing to see Pixel, but nearly a thousand bucks? Really? That's way too expensive.

Well, for all the rich folk able to attend Pixel's conference, they were treated with Cave Story Beta gameplay.

And here's the rest of Pixel's conference, though I'm sure you guys aren't terribly interested in that.

Cave Story is a combat-based game, but what does Pixel have against stealth, exactly? Stealth is fun too!

Especially in a retro sidescroller like CS, I think the game would really have to be built around stealth for it to work well.

 

Why didn`t you find a sponsor for it? Even in a poor country like mine I`ve found a sponsor to attend a 600$ worth conference on medical informatics. There are foundations who give money and they don`t care that much whom they pay. My qualification was only that I finished the university. I`ve heard even university students get money (With good marks of course. I`ve won 3x a trip to Lomonosov University Moscow, but never went since it was always in exam time.). Richer countries have more opportunities. Just ask and search for foundations. Know the people who are involved with them. Sometimes they`re hard to find, just know the guys who know about them. Ask your teachers, friends, parents. It`s really not that hard to find, but they don`t come to ring at your doorbell.
