Parkour Story

Story:
A strange wave of poison gas has passed throughout the world, striking
everybody... including Quote. He passes out by effect of the gas, and
dreams of a man named "Quute." He finally wakes up, but in a strange
cell, and he's determined to get out... But this strange world may be more,
as you'd call it, "familiar" than you think.

Rant-ish sort of statement:

Okay so first off, there's a difference between platforming and parkour.
It's a common misconception for a lot of younger gamers nowadays to call "remotely-complex" platforming parkour, but that's simply not the case.
There are, of course, games that have *true* parkour, ones that have it built in as a mechanic. Games like the AC series and Mirror's Edge come to mind.

First definition of parkour that comes up states:
"par·kour
pärˈko͝or/
noun
the activity or sport of moving rapidly through an area, typically in an urban environment, negotiating obstacles by running, jumping, and climbing."

In a way, what distinguishes parkour and simple platforming in video games is that parkour serves the purpose of basically being visually pleasing while having the player utilize their environment around them as an alternative form of maneuvering. (If you wanted more specific examples of such maneuvers I'd suggest what people can do with walls, like running off, climbing up, or jumping off them)
There's more to parkour than just running and jumping. You don't see companies advertising their primary platformer games as having parkour in them, because they'd sort of be lying if they did. If you *truly* wanted to implement parkour into Cave Story, then you'd need to be capable of some ASMing here and there, depending on how complex you would want to make it.

 

Gas doesn't knock out robots. Just saying. Maybe change it to something that at least in theory could infect a robot, like nanobots. They could infect (if that's the right word) humans and robots.

 

It could also be two separate things being released: the gas for living things, and a sort of virus for robots and the like.

 

But then that'd be too much work to create.

Why not just a gas virus that infects literally anything that shows signs of sentience?

 

Replace gas with Pepsi.

Boom. That'd work.

This mod DOES have some promise, but take some time, and don't rush with updates like I used to. It's like a large pumpkin for a contest. Trim unneeded flowers, and water it well. It'll eventually turn into a great harvest. I have high hopes for this one.

 

Also, if anyone has feedback/playthroughs, those are greatly appreciated!
