[NOTE]: This mod is very, very dead. I won't work on it for a LONG time, if at all (and it would have to undergo a major rehaul). I'm not even sure the 2 links posted work anymore (I hate SendSpace and Megaupload anyways).

Here's a mod I've been making :p
It's based off of Metal Gear and (you guessed it,) CaveStory.
This is Ver. 0.01 (nowhere near completion) and is mainly for testing and feedback.
So, try out this game and see if you like it :D .
Also, open to suggestions on how to make the game better and storyline.
Oh and also wondering how i might edit boss battles.

Holy crap. Nice intruder system. :3

I got caught twice by accident. Plenty of times on purpose, just to get more weapon exp.

Edit - Try making the doors open when you go through them.

And put the opening door sound, you can find it in the TSC.

Well this is very nice. An interesting touch to the Cave Story system. Haven't played any Metal Gear but I know a bit about it. I liked the mimiga village stealth section (never been done before in CS mods I don't think, good work!) and the Sue/Quote screens. The new music at start is also a nice touch. Just a coupla issues; the text when talking to Sue is sometimes instant and sometimes normal which makes conversations a bit weird, some doors don't open, and some text extends beyond the box.

I liked it. You could make a reference to MGS when Quote dies: "Quote? Quote?! QUOOOTE!!!"

lawl nice idea.

But there are some aspects that don't make sense. Like how the level design is very similar to Cave Story, but not same. Instead you could keep the stuff we already know as they are, with a few monsters added, and add new levels.

Otherwise, I liked the concept and the execution.

BTW in case you didnt know you got to put <EQ+0002 to make the map system work. It set me back a few hours trying to get it to work.

EDIT- nvm you did put the command. The map didnt come up the first time for some reason.

Yea i think that its only auto at the first scene, then the codec convo's after that are all user prompted. It's just there because i originally had a differrent idea for the opening scene. I'll fix it tho. Btw which doors don't open?

Yea i didn't know how to do that first (new to the whole TSC coding) but im purdy sure i know how to do it now :(.
So i'll update those doors for ver0.02

Yea the map changes (but similarities) are gonna be explained later in the story. Btw in ver0.02 we might be meeting a new char :(.

the mimiga mask

yea right now the mask won't let you get past the guards (its the end of the mod so far...)
this also prevents you from advancing the storyline in this demo so the mask was intentionally designed not to get you past the guards
in later versions though the mask will allow you to talk to the guards :)

The radio is supposed to spasm, makes it look like its actually working.

And still toying with the NPC animating. I might have quote come in and save curly instead of just dropping in.

I like the idea with sneaking around and finding secret passages to avoid detection... a lot of it seems to be just tileset editting, but they're pretty good graphics. Background can be a bit... eye-searing, however, might want to subdue it a little.

Overall, fun to play through, if a bit short.

I wish there'd be an option every time you get thrown into the jail of going to your last save point instead of having to work your way back out again or pressing esc-F2-z-z.

Also, doors don't "open," that is to say the sprite doesn't disappear...

Oh and you could copy your folder and delete all the extra stuff in it before zipping it...
