I figured it out! I just copied the data and sounds folder, and the config file, and everything else from the original cave story folder to the one with my new program.
As for your insult, my problem-solving skills are perfectly fine, but it's always good to get help from the people who know these things best
Thanks for all your help, I've been puzzling over this for months.
EDIT: Ahh! New problem! All the percussion noises are mixed up! When it's supposed to play a snare drum noise, it plays a base drum noise, when it's supposed to play tom noise it plays a hiclose noise, etc. I tried changing the order, deleting or adding certain files, changing the name of the files, nothing works!!
