I need your help.
>_>
I need a small program/batch file that can extract line 5 from a series of txt files, then dump them (about 1800) to a new txt file with the file name following by a space.

Thanks in advance.

then why the 1800 lines?

confunding.

Has to do it for ~1800 files. @_@
Although, idealy...

Something that could get line 5 from a text document, then rename the document to the contents of line 5, as well as rename an HTML file with the same name (excepting the extension)... Like...
Line 5 of nextpoetffff.txt: GENERIC POETRY TITLE
Rename: nextpoetffff.txt: GENERIC POETRY TITLE.txt
Rename: nextpoetffff.html: GENERIC POETRY TITLE.html
Etc. ad nauseum.

...
Would be ideal. :3
I'm at a loss.
I'm tired from trying all night.
Oi.
Methinks I need to brush up on batch programming...
>_<
Wheeee.

EDIT: If I had my way, computers would understand plain English. In fact, they'd understand natural speech parsing and be able to do advanced voice recognition.

I'm gunna make it in gm, if you don't mind too terribly, it'll be fastest, if a tad ugly.

euch, I have to go mow, so I cannae do the batch now. Instead, I put it on an infinite loop.
hopefully this'll help you a bit, just make sure you put it in the same directory as all your files.

It works alright except for one minor hiccup...
I miscounted the lines.
It should be reading line 4.

And it's not your fault my computer sucks so much ass.

It lags Cave Story.

Also...
There is potential for duplicate names...
Can you make it append a (1) or something if it encounters 1?

So did the new version work?

Lemme make sure I understand perfectly. You want the program to find all *.txt files within the same directory and rename them to whatever is in the fourth line (without changing the file extension)? Cause I could write a program to do that in like 2 seconds.

As well as rename an HTML file (each txt has an acompanying HTML) to the same thing.
I'm just about to test the newer version.
:3

EDIT: V2 not work so well... Still grabs line 5. ^^;
