I have no clue what i'm doing though. I normally give up on things like this but i really want to persavere for this. While I have no questions at the moment I am making this thread in advance so I can ask questions someone more experienced can answer. But do any tuturials about modding exist? If they do could someone send me a link? I know how to do basic stuff like change the script and weapons names and change the terrain, but making events thats what I need help with.

I already got a question, I've noticed that every sprite and event has a number, (e.g the event with kazuma after getting the polar star is 200, the treasure chest sprite is 15) Is there no list that tell you which number belongs to which sprite and event?

Edit - I just noticed that the event after opening the chest in the gum room is also 200... I guess flags have something to do with that.. now if only i knew what flags were.

The event can be changed and manipulated to your will. You can reuse event numbers as long as they are on different maps.

Flags... I'll not tell you much seeing as I don't know how to explain it well enough.

I understand that there are important files I have to download first, I downloaded npc.ini that sp included in a post but that didnt noticeably change anything, are there any other files I need before I can do anything?

Put npc.ini in the same folder as Doukutsu.exe. Then it will work its magic. If it isn't, then Sue's Workshop won't list out what npc is the sprite you typed in. :/

Oh, and download TSC.

Read all the sticky threads, please! Then ask questions, before I'm not willing to help you.

There aren't "sticky" just for the purpose of fun :/

I could help you. But do you have MSN? Explaning things in real time is faster than on a forum =/

... You don't get a link because you are too lazy to even go to the Cave Story FTP, which is a stickied topic. Seriously, SP is giving you good advice, look through everything, then come back. And don't even try to lie, we will know if you ask a question that has already been answered. Oh, and the Search function helps.

I already found it, but do not call me lazy please, I did search the stickies in the hacking section before I posted, I figured it would be there, rather than the general cavestory discussion section..

I'm sorry, but actually noone looks at the stickies. The FTP is not only for hacking purposes.

You need to look at ALL stickies, not only the ones at the hacking section.
