It's an online rpg, it's not massive. You connect to pixel's computer which holds the locations of the enemies and other players. It used to be an offline version because he was still working on networking.

Is it an rpg though?

Does it have the level system, or some sort? Since if not then it's still an online game, but not an RPG IMO. I guess since you're somewhat "Role-playing" as the frog-thing in game it could be called an RPG, but then so could just about every other game.

(I played 1 or 2 of the earlier versions, where all you could do was run around the maze-like maps, so I don't know anything about the gameplay except for what I've heard).

You collect stuff and become more powerful. It's an RPG, Gir.

Play v.0.425.
I knew it, now that the sword is easier to reach, stupids are running rampant, killing everything.
Anyway, blue bad guys and the game picks a color for you, too.

Err... well Pixel's page says v0.420, not v0.425 (he updated then removed the update?).
Also, the download link isn't working, though I don't think that matters since servers are down till the 9th.

One thing I would like to see in this game is in-game chat. That could be also useful for making something like a Soaprun team-mode.

Well, most people would probably be chatting in Japanese, so I don't think that'll be too helpful.
Or, soaprunners could develop some sort of signalling system by tile-changing in a certain pattern. Or something... nevermind...

Hm. I always have to refresh the page because I check it a lot, plus, there isn't a specific download page like Pixel used to have.

About signals, sometimes I use back-forth to mean no, and up-down to mean yes.

New Map

New discoveries coming soon to Soaprunners. Ghost Soaprunners can visit these new areas in development now.

Pixel removed the eyes on those rotating flames. Check out 'funit-npu' in the data folder for more new monsters. The purple ones were not used yet, wait for future version.

New file, 'weather'. Rain will come in the future version?

That would cause a horrendously larger strain on the server, and I think Pixel knows that there are more than one language-speaking groups playing his game. He may or may not include either of these things, but he definitely won't with the server he's running now.

The black Cruncher monsters will turn blue when they had killed about 3 Soaprunners. Then, any unarmed Soaprunner can actually kill the Cruncher with one touch. (It trys to evade)

Remember: A bar of 'Soap' should never be ingested. It is toxic.

Wait, you can kill the blue ones by running into them? One ran into me and I was stuck in place for a moment, then could move away.

Update! version 430

Seems they changed the music and its kinda cool, and theres rain now! O=
I havnt played it much so i dont know about the other updates, seems theres a few new enemies and the maps changed again, some fire enemy that breaks apart and lets people through corridors.

Heres a quick screenie i have, now you can hold some purple thing, which ill find out how to get soon.

With the purple item, you get bad guy powers. Except the killing part. Most enemies can't hurt you, except fast ones.

It is a shield that protects the Soaprunner from flames. The downside, it cannot pass through shaded(drawn) tiles.

I ran into a black Cruncher with a shield and died.
