• Hey everyone happy Christmas Eve we're aware of what's happened with the source code so to keep this simple absolutely don't post it on the site or use it to make mods with (it's not particularly preferable toward this end anyway) and tread lightly in general until we see how this settles, thanks to all and have a great holiday season -DT

I'm playing through Cave Story on my third try and am trying to get to the Sacred Grounds. I read a walkthrough, but all it specified about requirements are saving Booster and Curly. Another walktrough mentioned the Tow Rope, but i have no idea where that is...

Anyways, Booster got out of the labyrinth, but when I tried to go back to that place where the Core is/where Curly died, ...the door was locked. Figures.

Obviously I have to get the Tow Rope before destroying the Core, but where is it and how do I get it?

It's in the water below where the Core is before it attacks you. It's sparkly.

after you save booster then go to the core area and dont talk to the broken robot go to the right and there will be a sparkling light press down on it and you will get the tow rope and then continue to read the rest of the walkthrough there are still a few criteria after that to meet to get to the sacred grounds, just look at the walkthrough on the tribute site :p

kkthx

I guess I never noticed that before. Looks like I'll have to play through the whole game again. Any suggestions on weapon choices? I don't think Machine Gun will be necessary with Booster v2.0

keep the polar star and then when you get back to the mimiga villiage use the booster 2.0 to get back to the gun smith and he will make it into the spur :p

Well, the Machine Gun does have its use - Booster 2.0 doesn't allow indefinite flight, and you can move upwards far more quickly. =P But that's not important to most people...
For all that people talk about Spur, I gogo Snake. Versatility > power. =D Especially with a good twitch-finger.
But hey, most people swear by the Spur... so whatever.
( Hasn't even used Spur yet *cough* )

Spur is the best simply because when you get to Sacred grounds,
all you weapons drop to lvl0
, which doesn't affect the spur. And it shoots glowy lasers. :D

there is no such thing as lvl0,
they drop to lvl1 with 0exp.

Neither does it affect the Nemesis. In my point of view, I believe that the Nemesis is more suitable for Sacred Grounds
and Ballos
, sorry folks. :)

I don't understand how people can miss the timestamp on a thread that's buried several pages down, unless they were running a search in which case it still pays to look at the thread properly

Anyway, ~lock'd~
