How do you add items to Cave Story+?

Sorry if this has been asked already, I'm new.

I'm at the final boss before the sacred grounds on my second play-through (haven't done the sacred grounds yet). Unfortunately, I cannot get through the bosses and stupid me used my life pot in the hidden Last Cave.

Now, I was wondering if there was any way I could add a life pot or two in Cave Story Plus (I'm running it through Steam).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm pretty sure you can get another life pot from Jenka / puppy if you go back down through the cave. Alternately you can get a save that has what you want and use andwhyisit's tool to make it work with CS+.

Or if you're really pro you could use a hex editor, but lets' not go crazy here

And yes, I'm trying to cheat the game. I feel bad, but I want to experience the rest of the game and since I have already beaten these bosses, what's the point?

I wasn't trying to imply that what you were doing is a bad thing, but I couldn't think of a better term for it.

 

Thank you so much Noxid! I actually did beat the bosses today, unfortunately, I used all my missiles and got hit by two falling blocks outside, which is really not good for the Sacred Grounds...
