Hey, Cave Story supports surround sound.

I was playing good ol' freeware Cave Story just now, and now that I have a surround sound system on my computer, I noticed parts of the music were playing in the rear speakers. Sweet. I see it supports surround sound then. Mischievous Robot sounds absolutely cool with surround sound with the "rumbling" sounds in the rear speakers.

I can confirm this applies to Cave Story+ (on all soundtracks) as well. I can also confirm the WiiWare version also supports surround sound (Dolby Pro Logic II, in this case), from my experience.

It definitely isn't that. If it was, the output of the rear speakers would be the same as the front speakers, in which it isn't.

I think .org files support stereo but not full surround.

I'm amazed on how much I have yet to learn in order to become a CAVE STORY MASTER! (Who will be next?)

Enable 8.1 speaker mode:

Follow these steps exactly;

1. Shut your computer down.
2. Reboot computer.
3. Learn Japanese BEFORE your computer gets to the log on screen.
4. Now, as your computer is right on the log on screen, use your wizardry powers to go back in time to the years Pixel was creating Cave Story and convince him to add support to surround sound.

It should be enable when you get back home.

I did all that, but Pixel just looked at me funny and said it wasn't necessary :<

 

My time portal malfunctioned and sent me to an alternate dimension where cat month was dog month...I nearly died. Don't ask how I got back.

 

That's pretty cool man.

 

The reason my portal was so bad was that it was from a gift shop at Valve's office building. They charged $10 for that thing!
