Hard mode?

I was reading the guide here

and it keeps talking about stuff that can only be done/goten on hard mode.

My question is:
HOW do I get in hard mode? Do I need to finish the game once or something?

No it doesnt depend on that

I dont want to spoil anything but it you have to do a certain thing in the middle of the game to start your self on the hard path, But im pretty sure the walkthrough will mention it,

BUT! i advise you play the easy game first to get a feel for the story, The game was alot more enjoyable for me because i did easy ending first, you then feel alot better with the hard ending

 

It's not a hard "mode" so much as a hard "path" through the game. The word is just plain wrong.

I just finished the game with the normal ending.
Apparently I didnt have to pick the jetpack 0.8...gah.

as the rpg maniac I am I just couldnt NOT talk to the dude coming out of the sky xD

Same here, I just have to talk to every NPC and search out every chest.
