Grasstown problem; Completely stuck! Need help!

Ok, I am playing though Cave Story for my first time and I have done everything in perfect order, I havent used any hacks or mods, and for some reason, the robot at grass says, "I would like to help you, but I'm afraid all I can do is make explosives." and he just stops. He doesnt tell me what items he wants, I got two of the three items anyway, but I can get the gum base from the dude in the crack because the robot hasnt said the right thing. Please help!!

 

You need to talk to crack, talk to door, talk to crack, talk to robot, talk to crack. If that doesn't work, talk to them again.

Try to open the door, then talk to the guy in the crack again.
Should work.

I do this a lot, too. You know that you need an explosive for the door, but mister hero is a dope.

 

It's actually a lot more simple than that. The robot will ask / prepare the explosives once you have "talked" to the door. It says it's rusted shut and the robot's response is something like "What? the door's rusted shut?! And there's a human in there?!"

Therefore it needs to be known that the door is rusted shut before the robot can respond and progress in the game in such fashion.

 

You need to talk to crack, talk to door, talk to crack, talk to robot, talk to crack.

I do that too sometimes, when I get the really strong stuff.
