Gamepad issue

I have a gamepad, but cave story use the small analog stick instead of the main pad control.
How do I change it to use the main pad control?

One of two ways:

1) Under config in the Cave Story folder, you can edit the controls, along with other things.

2) Most game pads can map themselves to certain keys, such as NYKO. I'm not sure what you're using, though.

 

Do you have an analog button?
Pressing that usually switches the axis.

 

I had the same problem on a SmartJoy adapter that had two slots for PS2 controllers, but the problem didn't happen on a SmartJoy I had that only had one slot. I dunno why, it was just wierd.

 

I always wondered what that button do.
In my game pad it is called Digital, and now it works fine.

 

for future reference, cavestory defaults to you first controller. i have a psx pad that i need to plug in by itself, becase if i plug in my 360 controller it takes priority as joystick 1.

also, if you still have problems, you should get a program like key2joy and just map it over the keyboard.
