about bumping into reserved ram, even that has blank spaces.
(I'm looking for int3s btw, not 00s)
(urgh, trying to find where the flags start in the tsc parser, but it is messed up for some reason. messed up.)
(nyeh! 12 more days of stress, then a week later, I'm going to Greece. O.o. Your commands might get done by july tho...)

urgh, hacked the exe, and apparently flags above 7080 shouldn't work.

I think it's going to affect both.
what I'm doing is the entered num*base agil/1000 as the equation, and then the hack will affect eight values, being:

p.walkspeed
p.walkaccel 
p.jumpwalkaccel
p.jumpvelocity
and then those same four again for water movement. However, I've hit an issue with how mul works, and this seemed a good waste of time until I stated that homework that's due tomorrow...

And it'll affect Water movement? More ideas.... >=D

no, I'm a year ahead in math, so ha.
but I've got two more weeks of school because we had an epic ice storm up here during the winter. my power went out for 6 days, twas a sorry sight.
and massachusettes has the longest school year in the grand ol USA

First of all, why the hell are you using flags way up there?
Why not just start with flag 0001?
Second, if you had followed the conversations, cheese saw the idea from a programming point of view, raising an interesting point, and so I just said to stay under 8000 to be safe.
Then Lace hacked the EXE a bit more, and thinks the flags above 7080 aren't safe either.
We don't automatically have all of the answers....

Besides, you wouldn't have had to rescript anything if you had just used flags from 0001 and higher.
Thus avoiding this entirely.
Like I said countless times before, who the hell needs 7000 flags?
That's probably several times more flags then were ever used in Cave Story itself.

Um, doesn't Cave Story use flag 0001? It uses flags too, that's why I started at flag 9000 just to be safe I don't overwrite anything. But when the changing mind thing started.........Yeah, you get the idea. But I am not trying to sound mean or anything. I am just mad at how long it takes to script everything. Again and again. Well, I've cooled down a little bit. Not as mad as I was before.
Don't think I was screaming or anything. I wasn't THAT mad, but I was pretty mad. Not at you though. Well, the reason why I didn't check the conversation was because:
1. I was busy scripting.
2. I didn't want to read a BUNCH of off topic posts.
Off topic posts is what makes me the most mad. I cannot stand it. It annoys me to no end. Well, I HOPE that flags below 7080 will work. But why flag 0001? Cave Story uses that, right? I will use over 4000 flags because I want my mod to be awesome and different monsters will appear at different times. MANY different times. Like when you destory a village and come back, only to find hardly any monsters. Then you come back again after leaving only to find the place swarming with jumping critters and bats and the like. And so on. That's why I need flags. The other reason is cause I can use them. So why not.


QUESTION:Cave Story uses flag 0001 right? So how is that possible?

Geez, if you're going to be like that I don't think I WANT to tell you the proper range for tsc flags. Also, don't start your flags in the 7000+ range, might as well just stick between 0-999, since I doubt you'll ever use more than 1000 flags.

And what do you mean "script the entire mod again"? Even if you had to change some flags, all you would have to do is edit the flags that were outside the range. That's not what I'd call scripting an entire mod. And if you're too lazy to fix your flags, then don't do it. Don't blame it on us (to be honest, it looks mostly like you're flaming lowell mostly though).

[EDIT]: looks like my post was a bit late, since at the time I was typing this, the lastest post on this thread was post 30. But now we have 2 other posts.

Well, there's a list somewhere on these forums that tells you which flags have been used by Cave Story or not, I just don't remember where.

And, yeah like Lace said, get ready to read lots of off-topic posts.

I would LOVE to have a money system in my mod, but I've already seen ideas for it, using just flags, in other threads, and it's waaay too messy to consider.
It'd have to be Assemblied in....

Exactly. I wonder, I have to use flags UNDER 7080 right? :confused:But over 2000 cause of the cave story flags that are already there....:)

I don't think Cave Story uses flags above or equal to 1000, so you should be safe using flags 1000,1001,1002,etc, that's what I'm doing in my mod.

That's exactly what I wanted to do, but what is the limit? Cause I want to use as many flags as I can, just for the hell of it and to make it:

1. Longer.
2. More sidequests.
3. More people to talk to and then go away when you come back.
4. A person who gives you an item as you progress the mod.

There are more I think, but I can't think of anymore.
Is the limit flag 7080?

The safe limit apparently is.
Besides, I seriously doubt you'll use 6080 flags, even with all of the stuff you're using...
If you do somehow get that close, I can show you some tricks to re-use old flags...

the safe limit has been proven to be 8000, I just turned up 7080 in my search.
that's why I was confused.
