Final Cave(Hidden)/Hell run times.

Sacred Grounds B2 is all about luck.
Sometimes you'll get through without a scratch, and then there's times when you don't even make it halfway...
Skills will get you far, but luck will screw you up.

 

When you go into hell for a speed run, don't think, just move forward.

You may die many, and I mean many, times, but eventually it will be an instinct to do everything.

Trust me on this.

Truth is, I wrote a little program that plays a sound when you should jump.
It works 80% of the time, the other 20% failure rate is due to my computer lagging hard.
Basically, it tries to predict the falling blocks via the same method that generates them.
It usually gets it pretty dead on, with a little wiggle room.
I dunno, I find having an audible signal to do something makes it easier.
And before any one asks, no I'm not sharing details, or the program itself.
All I can say is it's a very, very simple program, that you load CS through it, and it will crash if left running for more than 20 minutes.
It can also be used for the post-Undead Core Balcony.
And lastly, it's the spritual predacessor to my indefinately canceled project: HellBot. (An auto-play bot for CS designed to get through Hell in insane times.)
And finally, BlockPredict is only a tool for beating Hell; I rely more on memory than anything.
And HellBot was for a Computer Science class that I never got to complete, due to a family emergency. (The project being: "Create a Program to Beat a Video Game")

Or like taking steroids. Which would improve your reflexes which would help you get through Hell faster. So that's why you shouldn't take steroids to play Cave Story. It will make your penis smaller.

Meh. I just consider it leveling the playing field against an unpredictable enemy.
It's still challenging, just less I have to worry about visually so I can focus on the fkn Butes.
Asides, by that logic, having an auto-fire capability or state saving* is cheating too.
IMO it's not cheating as long as the core game remains intact and unaltered.

* = I would agree in this case to it being unfair, as reloading alters the fall pattern (and yes, it's a pattern established at the start of the level when the Quake and Blocks are loaded)...

 

My best hell time is 2'56"1.

My best times on video are 1'46"0 for Last Cave, but that was because I did it with 3 hp (can still get a better time)(Link)(I might record a better time for this later, if requested).

And for a hell run on video, I have 3'17"6, which is not as impressive as my newest time. (Link) Also the video's sound is different in the second part since I experimented with 2 different types of sound recording methods for both parts (I now use the latter method).

Doing a hell run is pretty easy now, but there are still some things I cannot do that the ALMIGHTY GREATEST TIME ON VIDEO manages to do.
1) Get my missiles to lvl 3 before getting to the door where you can make the missiles spawn on the otherside of the wall, killing one of the deleets faster.
2) Haven't mastered using lvl 2 missiles to kill the first deleet.
3) Use the booster down the hallway that's only 1 block high, after defeating heavy press.
4) Get through B2 without taking ANY damage (the guy does it, he has incredible luck).
5) Kill Ballos in only one cycle on his third form (guy does it with lvl 3 missiles, have yet to find out how to recreate his technique).

Part of me believes that the video, along with the TRUE flawless last cave 3hp video were Tool Assisted, but I cannot be sure.

[Edit]: DB, I'd say that using anything 3rd party program, heck using anything besides Cavestory, an operating system, and a keyboard, is considered cheating. It should be humanly possible for everyone, without ANY program or modification. The only modification in my 3hp last cave vid is the addition of the nikamaru timer btw.
