You will find that throughout the whole Original Cave Story game, the only place where the <CMP command is used is in Sand Zone, when you fight Omega.

Well, I have just discovered that in this part of the Sand Zone script:

Code:
#0202
<KEY<MYD0002<DNP0200<FMU<FON0201:0016<WAI0100
<MS3I see Balrog failed in
his duty...<CMU0000<NOD<CLO
<CNP0206:0067:0000<WAI0010<WAI0090
<ANP0206:0013:0000
<MS3<FAC0015Hmmmm...<NOD<CLRYou look like quite a
fighter.<NOD<CLRBut at this juncture,
you're proving yourself
rather a nuisance.<NOD<CLR<FAC0016Shall we settle this?<NOD<CLO<FAC0000
<QUA0050<WAI0020
<MS3
?!<WAI0050<NOD<CLR<FAC0015No, there's no need
for me to get involved.<NOD<CLO<ANP0206:0020:0000
<BOA0020<CMU0007<BSL0000
[SIZE=5][B]<SMP0210:0010<SMP0210:0011[/B][/SIZE]<END

210,10 and 210,11 are the coordinates where the tiles block the small 2-tile high opening that you use to enter the sand pit to fight Omega.

When the Omega fight begins, these tiles (the 2 original unchanged tiles are unknown tile types as stated in the tileset editor in Sue's Workshop) are <SMP'ed and they become a different solid tile.

I have a feeling that SMP is the abbreviation for Show MaP tile or something. It changed unknown tiles into another tile, if I'm not wrong. Screenshot coming up.

Ah, the ever-cryptic <SMP. To clarify for all, it changes the tile at coords (x,y) to the one before it in the tilesheet (one to the left). Its biggest difference over <CMP is that <SMP doesn't generate smoke. It's quite handy, actually...

Ever played Jenka's Nightmare? That's how the crazy-cool illumination effects in Genesis:Light were done. I've used it a few times in Schism, too (Detention Center, when Kate's eyes open). It saves sprites, trust me.

Hehe, anyone else used this one creatively as such?

All noobs cry out for help, but are too lazy to get their ass working and search for it :p

There is a sticky thread with the Cave Story FTP... With all the Mods, FAQ's, Programmes. And they still don't read the stickies allthough the name just say it, instead of just clicking the link and looking at it they are like: "WTF what's this, well it's not important anyhow it seems, huh a link? Oh, this is not important I don't need to click it! *cloes microspy internet explorer*" Of course it's not important even if it's sticky... ><'

diph.php

Maybe I should unsticky it, because all the people don't care about the stickys anyhow, allthough it mainly is for noobs. :/
This is just sad... Even more because it is happening for more than half a year now.

Yeah, but the updated TSC doesn't have the SMP.
