If you want to do hacking, you'll have to download the Windows version of the game and use that.

You could probably hack on a Mac with a hex editor, but it would be slow and tedious and most likely un-fun... basically, doing manually all the stuff the editor does for you.

About saving to a disk... do you mean like a floppy disk? It needs to be formatted as FAT, which is how Windows will format it. A Mac can always read a Windows disk, but Windows cannot read a Mac disk. So if you format the disk, it should work. (Make sure there's no important data on it first though!)

If you mean a memory key, they're usually FAT already.

Also... what version of MacOS do you have? Do you have a PowerMac, or a later model?

I have a feeling with how a hex editor is described i wouldnt like it, especially being tedious.

What's your MacOS version? And what's the processor?

You can find this information in the Apple menu, under About This Mac.

Well, if it's not MacOSX, then there's no chance of running the PC version on it. Try checking the version on the OSX computer.

Or just use Window 98 like you said. It would probably be easier.

Okay then. Theoretically, it may be possible to run the PC version of the game and the PC game editor on your Mac. However, it's not guaranteed to work, and it requires that you download and install something. If you have access to Windows 98, though, that's probably better.

On Windows? No. You have to go into "My Computer" to find your disks.

If you're using a disk that's unreadable, and it's a floppy disk or a memory key/flash drive, then you need to format it as FAT in order for Windows to read it.

There is a program called WINE which can run Windows applications on Unix-based operating systems. Since MacOSX is a unix-based system, there is a version of WINE for Mac called Darwine. It can be downloaded here. (There are three download links – they should all work for you, but I would advise against the left-most one.) That's a somewhat less recent version, but the site with the more recent version seems to have died, unfortunately. (Unless it's just moved, but I don't know where would have it moved to.)

However, there's a catch. It can't run just any Windows application. Some will work, others won't. That's why it's probably simpler to use Windows since you have it available.

Uh... I don't think CDs can use FAT... if I'm right, see below.

Your Mac probably doesn't have a floppy drive, so I'd recommend buying a memory key/flash drive if you don't already own one. I believe they're fairly cheap now. But double-check first on the back of your Windows computer that there's a USB port – there needs to be a plug-in slot on the back of the computer which is labelled with this symbol.
