Editing PBMs

I use it all the time, it's my first and only hex editor.
Never tried XV132, but Translhextion's got all I've ever needed, and more...

 

One interesting thing...

If you open a .pbm with notepad you can see the "(C)Pixel" at the very end.

So I tried removing "(C)Pixel", editing, and putting the string back using notepad, yet cavestory couldn't read it. I guess you're forced to use a hex editor?

That's because, when you open a file with Notepad and save it, even if you didn't change anything, Notepad automatically converts all 0x00 bytes to 0x20 bytes which messes up the file.

I need serious help! I'm having mac, and the program that has to read .pbm doesn't do it... What i can do is transfer them to jpg, edit them, transfer back to pbm, and then see... Well, i edited the pbm of the undead core, and then i wanted to enter the black space, but when i entered, the game restarted! Can anyone help me at that?

Macs can't edit Cave Story. That's what you get for buying a computer that's 2000 but has the value of 1000.

what makes me laugh is its all just noobs starting arguments, all the people who have been here for some time dont argue much and if they do its just jokes, the forums are just turning into flame warz all the time, The admins need to do some serious cleaning up

I'm not Sonichu. I know who is, but I'm not telling anyone becuase he'll get in trouble. Trust me, I troll a lot better than he does, no offense to Sonichu intended.

Also, to answer your question, the reason you are having trouble is becuase there is no way to edit Cave Story on a mac. Unless you use Bootcamp or possibly Wine, not sure how well it would perform if you used Wine though.

A lot of things changed here in these forums. A LOT of new members came, and I guess statistically some percentage of them had to be trolls. Man I remember back in the days when this forum was like a Utopia...Like communism, but in a good socialist way.
