Dumbest thing you've done during your first playthrough of cave story?

Then again, people can still be oblivious to other endings, a friend of mine once played it, and thought he was at the end.

For me it was trading in the Polar Star and the Fireball for the Snake when I was going for the best ending. Spur is stronk yo

 

I jumped down to the Professor without knowing the consequences. Even though I specifically heard Caddicarus's warning about doing such a thing.

I couldn't remember if he said :

"Oh, don't ignore the professor falling to his doom well SCREW YOU THEN"

"Oh, ignore the professor falling to his doom well SCREW YOU THEN"

(plus I jumped straight into the first spike of death at the beginning of the game)

 

I was using a guide for my first time because i wanted to get the best ending first before anything else, but something was bugged in my copy of CS, so after I beat Heavy Press in the Sacred Grounds, I went to the statue room and I wanted to see if I could go back to the Plantation. Normally the door is locked, but my bugged version let me in.
And Momorin was still there as if I never met her.
And she turned my booster 2.0 into a 0.8.
And I saved the game.
And I ragequit for a few weeks.

 

Huh? didn't think that people would take the ending with Kazuma so seriously, I mean, I already knew how famous cave story was before I played, so I knew that when I saw that ending, it was just a joke/bad ending, and that there was still more to the game.

Dumbest thing I did on my first play through, was going up to the final cave without the boosters, the final cave itself was still pretty easy, but the final boss fights were hell without the boosters. I DID EVENTUALLY beat the undead core without the boosters though.(I had the snake at the time, but it was pretty useless at level 1)

 

Died while fighting Balrog in the Shack, also died about 7 times before finally getting out of First Cave. Never managed to get at least Good Ending. My skills at jumping / shooting / running etc. are so bad...

The dumbest thing I did trade the machine gun for the polarstar, and then restart the game when I heard about the snake.

 

I traded my Polar Star for the Machine Gun and I knew about the Booster 2.0, so I didn't talk to Booster. I could have gotten the Tow Rope and saved Curly, but I just let her die.

 

Very first playthrough I somehow got stuck at the Jenka dog puzzle and ragequit for a while. I did other stupid things like trade for the machine gun and killing off curly, etc.. but doing those things the first playthrough isn't very uncommon

 

Probably playing the flash version of this game(NX-Engine). Thankfully, I never got to the part where supposed bug in port prevents Curly from being drained of water, because I already let her drown.

nxEngine doesn't refer to noxid's engine, it refers to this: http://nxengine.sourceforge.net/ (and this is indeed the engine that was used in the flash port)

Strange stuff happens to what I type when I'm using my tablet, I'm usually able to notice it and fix it before anyone notices.
