Don't know if you guys knew, or are even fans of Radiohead, but Cave Story got a mention on Radiohead's website a couple weeks back.

Aside from it being how I found out about the game it is pretty cool that Jonny liked it enough to inform others about it.

Here is the link:

Dude, this is awesome. "A work of art"... so true.

Though now since he gave a link to the fansite, our forum's noob immigration rate is gonna go through the roof.

So far that doesn't seem to be the case. Rather, I don't think we've really gotten ANY boost in traffic. People playing the game and joining the fansite are two different things.

Well, I'm saying that because he gave a link to the site, which in turn links to the forums, we might be seeing a couple of new members(of which some will obviously be noobs).

I've been meaning to comment on this but I keep forgetting. It's definitely nice to see a plug from Radiohead of all people. : ) I'm glad that they enjoyed playing the game and it is always nice to see more newcomers to the site! I hope you all are continuing to enjoy the games.

Um, so why would he be famous 'illegally'? There is nothing illegal about his project at all.

Well I'm going to come off sounding like a complete ass when I say this, but in the future you really ought to read more about the game and get your facts straight about what exactly Cave Story is before making such a claim like that.

Pixel is the creator of the game, he spent five years developing it completely by himself and made his own game engine, characters, plot, his own graphics, music and music file format, everything from scratch. There is nothing illegal in the least about the development or distribution of his software. After the initial freeware release of Doukutsu Monogatari it grew more and more popular when Aeon Geneis translated it into English. After playing the game I created the Cave Story Tribute Site for the purpose of promoting the game to players who were just now finding out about Cave Story. I've been given full permission directly from Pixel to create the site using his original graphics and artwork. So there is nothing here at this site that is stolen or illegal in any way.
