Clean doukustu Hack?

I was thinking, what if there was a hacking friendly hack out there called clean doukustu. it would be user friendly with all of the things that are needed to begin hacking already done for you. (like read-only disabled)

here is what the "Hack" would feature.


Read-only disabled for all files
Image extension changed to .bmp
Images do not require the C pixle attachment
Extra (empty) maps are added properly.
Add 2X resolution (though all sprites would still be 1X)
Title screen is just one sprite that covers the entire screen.
All TSC is removed to get flags out of the way and stuff. (maybe)
Includes Cave editor?
Includes save edit?
Expanded tile sets?


That's all that I can think of off the top of my head, but I'm more then certain that more will be added to the list.

The problem with that is that, just using Booster's Lab does basically most of those things automatically except 2x, which isn't going to happen I'm sorry

I haven't tried BL yet, so I wouldn't know. . .

But what about the title screen thing, and the extra maps.

and also, why not 2X?

Title screen hack not atm, but I can include that when I finish the hack dialog
Extra maps it doesn't have a problem with

You can't have 2x because that is only given in special circumstances

It's never gonna happen.

Besides, the 2x res hack does some REALLY NASTY things to the executable. You don't really want that hack anyways.

then how did King: strife and Sacrifice get around this?

. . .unless you just don't want us to have 2X res hacks. . . I see how it is.

The latest version of King: Strife and Sacrifice is its own engine entirely, which bypasses all the issues that the hack might have caused.

I don't think it's personal, Bombchu. If I remember correctly(and I probably don't), Noxid is pretty much legally bound not to distribute the hack willy-nilly. You have to ask permission, and only if you're at least pretty good at spriting. After all, we don't need all of the small, abandoned, poorly made mods in glorious(ly terribly done) 2× resolution.

ah, I'm just still getting over playing King: Strife and Sacrifice. I't just gave me a HUGE nostalgia meltdown. . .I want the 2X res. . .

I think you have to sacrifice some bosses (so original CS wouldn't work for a start) and no editor will ever support it properly (it'll assume that you are using 1xRes).

Furthermore applying 2xRes to the original CS without any modifications will get you in serious trouble. That's why you have to apply to Noxid for the hack.

Wait GIR, so WTF Story, Noxid's Story and Haunted House Story have their own engine too, or what?

...

About the Doukutsu hack, the title screen at start would be neat. It's very easy to do. And convenient.

No no, Noxid's just insane and can do that stuff
His original use 2xres, and WTF? and Haunted House do as well. They're just heavy edits to the executable.
Also I'm fairly certain noxid story doesn't actually have 2xres
Unrelated I still can't remember how to title screen hack even though I've done it twice before :/

WTF Story has those nasty problems that I mentioned, which specifically are "compatibility issues" (people randomly not being able to run the game soley because of the hack).

This is sort of the main reason that I've stopped working on WTF Story, since I could never find a fix for this that didn't involve something insane like recoding the entire engine from scratch. Also, thanks to all the hacks in WTF story the executable is really messy with jumps going into the resource section and everything and it is just a mess.

So the 2x hack could be the reason I wasn't able to run Haunted House Story on school computers? Jeez, I haven't thought about that.
I have to make the 2x hack myself.
That is seriously a problem.

Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa WHOA... I never heard an official statement from you so this is quite a shock to me to hear that WTF Story's abandonment is confirmed. *sigh*, that's sad to hear. Happens to almost every mod.

Well, I guess that's understandable.

Man, WTF Story was my favorite mod.
