youve changed the entire physics of cave story!
it looks like cave story, but hell doesnt feel like cave story.
this is one of the most impressive mods out there... but...
it isnt fun.

why it isnt fun? please tell me.
and i tried to recreate CS physic as accurate as possible, there may still some bug with it, but i will try to make it more accurate.

why didnt you take the existing game and mod it?...

its not fun because you cant jump right when you hit the ground... so you fall alot.
its not fun because you have no resistance for moving right or left mid-air...
the polar star charching time is too slow
and the enemies are impossible.
when you jump over them they keep going to the direction of your jump.
that makes it impossible not to land on them.
the menus react too slow which is a real head-ache..
and probably more things that i cant currently remember from my game-play.

why didnt you take the existing game and mod it?...
cause i want to have full control of the game
its not fun because you have no resistance for moving right or left mid-air..
i didn't notice that there are resistance when i played original game, i will try to recreate it.
the polar star charching time is too slow
it not the polar star
and the enemies are impossible.
i can make them easier, but was that really impossible?
when you jump over them they keep going to the direction of your jump.
that makes it impossible not to land on them.
you can shoot down while you in the air
the menus react too slow which is a real head-ache..
i trying to fix that slow react yes-no menu (the main menu are working fine)

they werent REALLY impossible... i mean i could do it. but i can do lots of things :p

you cant shoot down enough times to kill them because the charge is too slow.

and did you notice that bug that when youre mid-air and landing, you dont fully land... you must wait a split second and only than it lands...
thats the cause of not being able to jump one jump after the other.

Wonder how far -this- one will go...

Uh, it wouldn't even take a skilled person to figure it out, all he's using is Game Maker to recreate the game... {Don't even need to copy a bit of code, probably better off not to}
That's why it suffers from the typical messy controls and lazy enemies.

Hopefully you'll get those fixed like you say, the controls are one of the most important parts of a game...

But who's going to enjoy enemies like that?
There's tough enemies, and then there's annoying enemies.
I suggest not doing the latter...

If you're going to use Game Maker to do this, you're going to have to put in a load of more work than any other mod if you want to keep it similar to Cave Story in gameplay, new gimmicks over abused gameplay won't go over well, as you see....

did you use the SMG?
and i thank wait a split second after a jump would be more realistic :D

you used game maker for all this?
this is really cool...
i once tried creating a bunch of games.
i couldnt get nearly as good as what you did here

The whole modding is illegal so this guy didn`t do more harm with 2x graphic "borrowings" than modders do. Sorry if that`s hard or hurts, but it`s my honest opinion. Pixel`s comment in BBS...so don`t be mad at me.

Pixel actually said that he allowed mods (or rather, that he didn't "not" allow them) on his bbs.

And like noxid said, the wiiware graphics are commercial, copyrighted files.

Take the originals, double their size on paint, and polish them in a different way than Nicalis did. You could probably ask some one to help. Hell, Noxid and Giraka cheezer hadd to remake some of the sprites for their mods, ask how they did it. Nicalis is very big on their sprites not being used like this, and while they could be nicer about it, their not, so don't do it for your own sake.

Sorry that your new and have to hear about all this right away, but it's something you still should know if your working on this.

So I played it so far, and here's what I liked:
The physics, to be honest, feel alright.
The text is easier to skip, so if you've already seen it you can continue much faster.
Grenades are very useful.
Same controls as Cave Story.
What I didn't like (I know this is just a beta and you'll be working on problems like these, but just incase you might want the constructive criticism):
Grenades take waaaay too long to detonate.
The fire rate of your first weapon is too slow to deal with the first few enemies.
As you land, you stall a second allowing you not to jump right away when your supposed to land.
And the framerate sucks, but I'm 90% sure this is because of my slow computer.

And this is in Gamemaker? Mabye if you actually finish this, you can add a Multiplayer code that most of us have been longing for.

So far, I'd have to say this is going great and I highly encourage you to finish this, it's a one-of-a kind GM engine.

is mid air resistance really important?
i did that but i will have to redesign almost all level i have designed cause some of platforming need resistance-free
