You jump over the pit and walk past the large building to talk to the mimiga.
"Hey, I'm Jack. I'm the number two around here. This door leads to the graveyard where the hero Arthur lies. Mushrooms have been springing up here, so I'm guarding the door to make sure they don't get out."

Looks like he won't let anyone in OR out.

There also appears to be some hole in the roof but you can't get up there.
