Cave Story Hell Speedrun Practice Mod

Or CSHSPM for short.

I know there are a lot of "hell" mods out there, but I just was bored and decided to make this in like two hours. It has functions for helping you practice B3 without messing with the first two floors, choice of weapons, changeable health, disabling story text ("did you know jenka had a brother" yes goddammit I did), and more fun-ctions.

In this mod you can play through Hell properly, so you can record times with it and be assured you didn't cheat.

Couldn't a profile.dat achieve some semblance of the same result

But it's so much easier to download one zip for a mod than download a thousand from the tribute site for different saves.

This mod allows you to no-weapon it.

My suggestion: If CSHSPM is complete, please port to mac

It's /technically/ done, but I plan to add little stuffs every now and then when I feel like it. So a port is probably a bad idea.
My advice is get a life get a Windows computer.

 

i beated ballos (WITH NO GUNS) on 150 health....

as it says ingame you have to accomplish some major feat. It's up to you to figure out what that is.

I cant find it everywhere what does "Major Feat" Means?

and if u load the counter from your speedrun record still moves is that supposed to happen?

Thanks a lot. Maybe I'll finish some things and hand it over to you. There's not much I can think of that needs done, really.
I'll probably delete all of the excess maps for the next release, though.

 

How can I set the controls to whatever I want? I have gotten used to v being jump, and c being fire. Is it possible?

I think Cave Story+ might have configurable controls (I'm not 100% sure though).

Seriously, you're probably going to need a key remapper unless you want to go through some hacking (how do you even change CS' controls?)

There's a remapper somewhere on the tribute site, IIRC.

 

Ok my bad. I have played plenty of Cave Story, but never on the free version. It is indeed true that Cave Story+ allows you to map controls to whatever you want to, and I have gotten used to that, and don't really want to re-adjust. Anyways, I will try and find that remapper, thanks for the tip!

I think he meant why you would change it to C and V.

 

Oh. I did that because that way, I could have my weapon switches on z and x, and then I could have one finger ready on each of the buttons.
