Hello! For a good couple months I've been working on my first public mod in a very long time. I uploaded the demo to doukutsu club a few days ago, but figured I should make a post here too.
this first demo has fully custom weapons, enemies, bosses, etc. along with lots of big dialogue portraits and a fully animated intro cinematic.

There was one or two more things I wanted to add, but I had to get it all done in time for Modgala... It'll have to wait till the next demo...

Technically speaking, this is a remake/retooling of my first mod from 7 yrs ago, so you could say on a technicality this is still my first (public) mod.

Never too late to start

I'll try to stick to specifics here as opposed to things that obviously aren't finished/spelling errors/feeling a bit rushed
-Sue currently reverts to being carried if you return or reload to the first map
-The door at the end of the second map doesn't animate open properly
-Hahaha he breaks the textbox that's amazing
-The Aqua Jet chest also doesn't stay open after receiving it
-May be deliberate but the max'd Kero Blaster basically doesn't seem to work properly against the eels
-Wow I uh, wasn't expecting that to actually amount to something, however I currently do not appear to possess the jump distance to get much further
-The reset effect also remains after continuing to play though, don't know if that's intentional either
-The boat can also boost up the waterfall and get stuck in there

In terms of general gameplay, I did find the first section a bit rough in the way it pushes you straight into a lot of cramped awkward spaces heavy on the spikes, particularly with the somewhat uneven difficulty due to random enemy movement while trying to learn new mechanics. The bosses in particular also feel very contingent on being able to keep the Kero Blaster at level 3 and having it basically always drop down after one hit can really drag on the game flow. Mostly though it's all very well put together from a technical standpoint.

I think the artwork and animation basically speak for themselves, it's kinda almost absurd what we're able to do these days. The concept of getting to have a proper venture round with Sue is also a just a lot of fun in general and the effort put into her character scenes really shows.

Good to see this get a release (and all the others at the moment really), I wish you success with your continuance

I'm glad you liked it!! :D It was very much rushed yes, I worked right until deadline day LOL, I'll probably get rid of the one-hit lvl down for lvl3 yeah, it used to be super overpowered so I put it as a balance thing, but it's not really needed anymore.

I think Sue is great so her being basically gone from post-grasstown onwards until the very end made me sad, so I wanted to make her a focus character here :)

It is possible, just really tricky. it's just a secret little challenge that tests how well you can use the new mechanics. There's two water tiles you can float up in the first jump, and a well timed dash-jump will get you over the second pit.
