• Hey everyone happy Christmas Eve we're aware of what's happened with the source code so to keep this simple absolutely don't post it on the site or use it to make mods with (it's not particularly preferable toward this end anyway) and tread lightly in general until we see how this settles, thanks to all and have a great holiday season -DT

Why has nobody mentioned Inform 7 yet? That is like the mainstream text adventure creation program.

When most people refer to programming languages, they mean "turing complete" languages, that are capable of being their own programs or whatnot. TSC is more of a "scripting language", which only works within Cave Story and does very specific things, and lacks the ability to create variables and such. One could theoretically make TSC turing complete, though.
Wrong. A scripting language requires an interpreter to run, and does so without being compiled to any other format. That is the distinction here. A scripting language that is turing complete is still a scripting language.

You are right in the sense that tsc is a scripting language, but for the wrong reasons.

More like
Code:
You enter an area with a deep pit below. Suddenly you see Prof. Booster fall out of thin air.
You hear a thud below as he falls.

/examine < ahead the gap > < below >
/move < across > < down the gap > < back the door >
