I very much disliked the artwork for CS 3D. It was like 3D for it's own sake and not the games. This new art looks really good and like the guy understands the game better. I want the eye candy!

 

So can an NTSC 3DS play that version? I didn't like Cave Story 3D much at all, and I'd be willing to give the Japanese version a try... assuming that it's abundant on eBay and I don't have to buy a Japanese 3DS.

He/She is my all-time favorite Cave Story artist, and now he/she is doing art works for official CS release.

Haha, wow. Shows how close and interconnected this fandom/community is, and it's even one of those rare ones where the Japanese and English sides are aware of one another and actually pleased about one another.

@ Thread: I'm in the Asia-Pacific region, I suspect that I'd be able to play it on an Australian 3DS but I'll have to check. I haven't played the 3DS version. I have watched a few parts LP'd on YouTube and thought that it looked kind of cool and trippy, but I had a few issues with it and I thought that Quote's model could have done with a better expression. He sort of looks mildly pissed the whole time. My boyfriend's played it and complained about it being peculiarly lazy at some points, like how during the end Balrog apparently doesn't get his red wings.

I'd have bought it and played through it if the dialog was different, but as far as I can see it uses the same translation as Cave Story+.

But I would consider it for extra content.

 

Mildly off topic, but I've never really understood the drive to buy a new computer just to play video games.

 

It used to be more important in the 90's when games would crash all the time without exactly the right specs. These days developers have realised that it's more profitable to make games that more people can run.

 

I never had many problems running A-10 Tank Killer on my parents' dinky PC when I was 3, but then my first experience with computers was Windows 95. Ah well, glad to know I live in a world of relative game cross-compatibility compared to what my forebears knew. But that still doesn't say why some people today want consoles and their tiny counterparts so much.

Don't know how many of you have seen it, but I'm putting it here just in case, because it's still pretty new (it was released last month as part of an update about the Japanese 3DS ver).

I thought the same of Balrog when I saw this illustration for the first time, even though the "scoop up" part doesn't really work. And Misery too. But she'd end me. </shameless loving of two favorite characters>
