Does Balrog have Jet-packs or super springs on his feet? Or do you think Misery has just given him powers.....

Yer but he doesn't use them when he's jumping/rocketing out of places that is when he is in the air.

I think Balrog can Jump really high Because he's Immensely strong. Remember that scene Where he Hurls the Rock out of your way? Thats How Strong he is. Maybe The Doctor disabled his wings to keep him on the Island.

I meant "clipped" in a magical sense, as if he were grounded to the island by the Demon Crown. On the other hand, maybe he was just being controlled by the Crown and was told to not fly away. But then again, he can do things that defy the Crown-bearer's intent (like helping Quote and Curly move the boulder in The Labrynth). I'll have to think about this.

I think Balrog was clipped in the sense that he stuck around for Misery's sake.

It's highly likely that he had the freedom to leave whenever he wanted. Balrog has repeatedly shown actions that would suggest that he is not magically compelled to serve the crown. Plus it is unlikely that he was built as far back as the creation of the crown anyway. I would suspect he showed up between the reigns of Annachponae and Miakid with the island's Human inhabitants, which I suspect is the same for Malco.
