Ame's Hair... Blue or White?

Oh no not this thread all over again!

So, she is a character that Pixel has had since, around Cave Story's early development, and behind those large, nonchalant eyes lies a secret, and that secret is her hair's actual color. Now, all these shown here are from Pixel, but there have also been fan works that depicts her hair in either color, but what do y'all think?
Note: I'm pretty sure I remember Pixel has drawn her with blue hair as well, outside of pixel art, but because I don't really have an archive of his artwork, that and the only other archive that Pixel has on his website has pretty recent drawings of Ame (2021-2023), I can't exactly dig that up anyway.

That is indeed a compelling argument, but in some cases Pixel has drawn what seems to be unambiguously blue fur outside of simple shading, especially the bangs and the ends of the side hair. For instance:

Apart from the shadows on the ground, there's no shading in this image, and at this resolution everything's extremely stylised so only 'essential' elements are drawn. Yet Ame's bangs are deliberately blue.
Or for instance:

Here the grey in the shading does not correspond to the blue in the coloured tufts of fur.

But despite these examples, you are right in that the vast majority of Ame artwork does indeed depict only white fur. I think the best way to reconcile these facts is to consider the blue colouring to be akin to make-up: it's just something Ame wears occasionally for fun. Both white Ame and blue Ame are canon and we love both of them

This has actually reminded me of a more prominent example that's somehow never come up very much, is Curly's outfit meant to be red or mixed/darkish pink? The sprite's always been the latter, but even the "official" artwork has been inconsistent (albeit trending more toward red as time has gone on):

Honestly I first thought it would be this based work of art one from 2010.

 

almost all of pixel's characters look different every time he draws them, so at this point i just take my favourite traits and mash them together - i mean, in cave story character designs vary between facepics, sprites, credits art, and every new batch of official art... it's part of the charm, i guess

I infiltrated nicalis hq and did it

in all seriousness (i think it was already mentioned? my brain is cooked) Ame's fur is white, but some sprites have part of her hair with blue because it would probably look weird to do the bangs with a darker color (as it would look messy) and a blue-r color stands out more, that's what I think tho
