As many of you know, Harmony Forest is finished and I've moved on in the game. But yesterday, I was wandering the woods, taking in all my hard work and snapping screenshots, when the framerate seemed to get choppy. At first I assumed my antivirus software was running in the background, so I ignored it, but it got worse. Nothing else was open, but as I crossed into the deepest part of the forest, the laptop shut off! [insert power off noise] It was as if the thing had been unplugged with no battery inside. No warning, just -off-...
Now, this isn't the first time my laptop has shut down unexpectedly. There have been times where I'm running a Flash/javascript game or I'm rewinding in the emulator a lot, trying to test things over and over, when the laptop suddenly quit. But this is the first time it gave up simply from running ZSNES too long.
Now, I know this isn't the best way to ask for help -- I should probably research it online and read from the experts -- but I'd rather spend the time working on Zelda3C; I thought I'd start this thread and see if anyone could suggest anything. My theory is that, as the laptop works hard for an extended period, its temperature rises and the vents are too clogged with dust or debris. Another theory is that I have a slow or broken fan. I dread opening up this laptop and trying to fix it... It's so much more compact than a normal computer. Still, if that's what it takes... Any thoughts on this?
