Shit, like, I mean't a modification to the executable which means it can only display graphics half the size of the usual ones, but still.

You seem to misunderstand something. When there is an easier way to do something with less repercussions, the smarter programmer takes that route. Its a hell of a lot easier to just edit image files than it is an exe, and if you edited the exe to only read half sized images, then you probably would have to edit bl or ce to read that exe as well.

 

Also it doesn't look as good as making a legit mod to the exe.
