    So I started a hack.

It's coming along well, but it seems as if the kind of drowning we discussed a while ago didn't get implemented (something like 8-10 seconds before any damage takes place, but then 1 point of damage for each ~2 seconds the player remains underwater). Is this something you were still planning to...

Just managed to finish hell (finally!)

Congrats on beating Hell, it's definitely satisfying. Of course, winning the normal way is still pretty gratifying, too. Especially if you were like me and had a machinegun and *never* remembered to use the Booster.

Could she have her own inventory, HP, and weapons? That would be insane.

    So I started a hack.

Some of those bosses will automatically get a little easier in the next release; there is supposed to be an extra health potion and some other tweaks that should tone down the difficulty for you.

    So I started a hack.

Did you release a version that has a Health Capsule in the village? I've downloaded what seems to be your most recent version (in the EDITed post), and I can't find such a capsule.

    So I started a hack.

How's the next release coming? I kid, I kid. It is possible Phantom downloaded the "harder" version and hence is suffering a bit. Regarding the Mutants, maybe you can reduce their attack power so it takes three hits to die as opposed to two. Even if they are relatively easy, two hit kills...

QBasic (or more precisely in my case, QuickBasic) is what I use for over a third of my programming. ;)

    So I started a hack.

I do know "isin't" isn't a word. :) "Despite the appearance of the form alright in works of such well-known writers as Langston Hughes and James Joyce, the single word spelling has never been accepted as standard. This is peculiar, since similar fusions such as already and altogether have...

    So I started a hack.

I don't think you necessarily need to give the health back to the player after resurfacing. In fact, if you do it that way, then it sort of defeats the purpose of having the health decrease as opposed to just drowning them (unless you wanted lower-HP characters to drown quicker). However, I...

Cave Story Remix Project is FINISHED.

Overall I like this project, although the "Cave Story" song does not sound like a particularly original remix. It sounds mostly like the dude just NES'd the orchestration and released it (with rhythm intact). If the other tracks weren't so much richer and more elaborate, I may have not have...

    So I changed a weapon.

Just as one could increase EXP to make the weapon stay stronger longer (and harder to upgrade in the first place), you could decrease the EXP required to have the opposite effect. Of course, can bias the EXP needed for each level if you wanted to emphasize a quick/slow upgrade process, or a...

    So I started a hack.

This conversion so far is very detailed and is great overall. It's a little more "vertical" than the original game, but you do it without penalizing missed jumps too much, and it's quite creative. The only thing I didn't notice being pointed out yet is that the red-haired kid is two pixels in...

    Drowning Progressively

If it doesn't eat up too much space, it may be more appropriate to make the first load of air last around 500, and have Quote recover around 100 for each point of damage he takes. You may find this model to be a little more ... realistic, but if you are out room, what can you do? What name...

    ???

Right, but it's not a matter of speed as suggested by "Then leave, but be careful not to be in the water with her too long or she'll die." The key is that you must drain her at the halfway point of the waterway-area right after fighting the Core.

Regarding Nebula, get rid of that horrid acid-induced background. Just use a black one; otherwise people are going to get splitting headaches after 5 minutes.

    CaveStory Modded (Nameless for now)

The Gate Keeper fight is tough (but winnable) with L3 Fireball or L1 MG (which someone usually has), and it's kinda easy with L3 MG (which you can train to if you fight enemies, save, reset, and repeat). Overall, I feel the battle played out well. I liked what you did with the spikes in the...

    Cave Story: Jenka's Nightmare

Hint: With the teleporters and puppies, barking means the tele is "connected," and quiet means the tele is "disconnected." When the teleports are connected, you can travel between them, but you ultimately want to break one apart from the other two, and then you want to find a way to reach the...

    CaveStory Modded (Nameless for now)

You can remove the extra pillar 2 terminal if you put both pillars before the save point. The second heart capsule doesn't work. Also, when you pick up the first heart capsule, it says you gained 3 HP, but you actually gain 5. Pretty much everything else I was going to say has been said already.

    Mod: Caveoholic!'s recent addiction v1.3

I'll echo the comment about grammar and punctuation. You can get by without proper syntax in forum posts, but if you are going to put in all the trouble for a decent/major game hack, you should at least make an attempt at using proper English in the hack. If English isn't your native language...

    Mod: Caveoholic!'s recent addiction v1.3

When Misery is supposed to say her line, Quote instead sometimes does this bouncy-thing, and the story won't continue (2 out of 5 tries). Once the rocket goes all the way up to the final area, it's about impossible to get up to Kazuma with just jet-packing (v0.8). MG'ing seems to (almost) be...

    Mod: Caveoholic!'s recent addiction v1.2

Where does the content end? Anyway, you can fall off the right side of Canada. The combat's okay, although a bit easy right now (no matter how many monsters you put out there, you can float with the machinegun to avoid just about any trouble). Lots of the Canada dialogue is formatted oddly...

    Cave Story: Jenka's Nightmare

The thing with the Blade is if it's going to be that much more powerful than any other (semi-)required weapon, you may as well *force* the player to get it. It's too much of a handicap if a player misses it (Gauskateers aren't much of a problem, because Fireball still creates decent havoc...

    Cave Story: Jenka's Nightmare

Yeah, I found him (I liked the free heal), but I'm not entirely sure which chain of doors triggered it. Which doors link to which rooms under which circumstances doesn't seem particularly organized (it's not the most confusing thing I've seen in a Cave Story hack, but it ranks up there).

You shouldn't have to go anywhere that almost uses up all your air. Go to Grasslands instead.
