I bring you: ROBOTS! (Also "Not" Sue)

The idea of using robots in the Cave Story universe is so common that it's silly to think this isn't just a coincidence. Brick has not stolen Garde's work at all -- the sheets aren't based on one another a single bit. Clearly this is no more of a case of idea theft than two different doctors...

    [MA Winner] <(Schism)> - Demo 1.0

Ah, thanks. Two of the buggies have been mentioned but I didn't notice the exposed slope 'til now. Thanks! How did I miss that one? ;o As for the intro? ANCIENT CHINESE SECRET And TLC? That's "tender loving care," you knuckleheads. ;P

    [MA Winner] <(Schism)> - Demo 1.0

@Wedge: I'm not too keen on the new one either but I do think it's a slight bit of an improvement... the old one was almost a direct ripoff of Pixel's original, which bothered me for some reason. Not like that makes sense considering how not much else is original, but I'm weird like that. ;P...

    [MA Winner] <(Schism)> - Demo 1.0

@Wedge: Thanks for the compliments! It's always good to hear that this crazy mod is appreciated. Keeps the creative juices flowing. I admit I found it pretty amusing at first that people liked the story for its in-depth-ness, considering how it's actually an incredibly stripped-down version of...

    [MA Winner] <(Schism)> - Demo 1.0

Oh, wow. Plenty of responses... @Dooey: Aah, thanks. Can't believe I missed that spot! ;P I probably meant the prologue music ("Dorian Grey") -- thanks! Good to see it fits... I was almost afraid it would be too "different" for the average ear. The full version will have something different...

    [MA Winner] <(Schism)> - Demo 1.0

Ah, thanks for the topic change! Much better. Also, I have PXTone and I've modified a few sounds, but I cannot figure out for the life of me how to convert the .pxa files to the format used in Doukutsu.exe. I have a list of where all the sounds start (hex) in the .exe, but I can't do a thing...

    [MA Winner] <(Schism)> - Demo 1.0

All right -- I think all the big bugs are ironed out, but if anyone finds any, let me know of course. But without further ado, -- Schism Demo 1.0 -- it's finally here! Grab it, even if you've already played the older versions. There's new enemies and music galore, as well as a few choice...

    Show off your org music...

Oh wow, new forum! I posted this in the Schism thread but it was overlooked a little -- Tranquil.org A sample of the new music from the upcoming Schemo re-release. It plays in Epoch Manor. No thievery, please. Not until the game-mod's finished. ;P

    [MA Winner] <(Schism)> - Demo 1.0

I really need to figure out a proper way to explain the weapon reverting. It's done intentionally for the Escher fight, otherwise it's far too easy. Also, I forgot I did the text after I sent you one. @_@ Silly me -- it's worth a read though. Sorry I keep missing you on IRC -- stupid...

Well, hello there Jimmy! Welcome to the forums -- I see you read the textfile, didn't you? ;P Thanks for the comments, esp. the music. I thought you might get a kick out of it. ;P The save points don't work, though? I'll have to investigate this. What exactly happens when you attempt to save...

    [MA Winner] <(Schism)> - Demo 1.0

I may just have to keep it the way it is. If I'm not the only one having this problem, I'm convinced that Gaudis simply don't execute death scripts at all. It probably has to do something with the fact that their "dying" animation is done by spawning a completely new actor. Somehow the game...

    [MA Winner] <(Schism)> - Demo 1.0

Indeed. As much as I like the idea of Schism as a DL mod (would be quite an honor), I don't see it happening. Hardware, Pixel's intentions, Nintendo's stubbornness... the list goes on. At least I can dream. ;P I'm wondering if anyone knows any more about the Gaudi death script issue. Should I...

    [MA Winner] <(Schism)> - Demo 1.0

@Brick: Considering the sheer amount of modding volume I have left to fill, I just may do that. But I hate giving spoilers and unfinished products -- I nearly decided against having any demo at all at first. Good thing I changed my mind. ;P So maybe, maybe not. @Garde: I just may have to take...

    [MA Winner] <(Schism)> - Demo 1.0

Well, hello. I've appeared, so I figure I owe a progress post, don't I? First off, I had a bit of a fun time going back through the thread and reading everyone's replies. Not to ego trip at all -- the comments add inspiration! Thanks, guys! Secondly, @Andwhy: Good suggestion with the...

How to change percussion instruments in mods...

It is indeed "Per01" as referenced in the executable, but is it the same OrgMaker Per01 we know and love? It could be a different sound for all we know. And I'm too lazy to check. ;P What I can't figure is how some songs will recognize the 6th drum track (White.org) while others (e.g. mine)...

    Custom .ORG crash mystery solved!

I haven't had any luck getting the 6th track to work. At least, removing it allowed me to finally insert one song that had been glitching for months now. Though you're right, White.org uses it for sure. A bit mysterious, this one is. I do admit I probably should have tested this further before...

    Custom .ORG crash mystery solved!

Hello, all. I've been gone for a while, but I finally ran across a solution to something that has been plaguing me for over a year now, seems like. I figure I'd share it with the community while I can. I apologize if this has been discovered before. For all I know someone else may have...

    [MA Winner] <(Schism)> - Demo 1.0

Just so everyone'll know: (Forest background from ZTaimat's Eternal Chaos, hopefully with permission. Please don't steal-ify the tiles -- that's no fun. ;P ) RE: the water thing... uh, just blame the physics. Also don't ask me why buildings are in the middle of the roadway or why the...

    Unused sprites

Replacement is the best way to go. There are no actor types that correspond to these unused sprites, so short of assembly hacking there's not much you can do with them without copying the sprites over another enemy's. Here's a neat trick though that many seem to overlook. You can easily make a...

    WinAmp Plugin in_org.dll (ORG player)

Nice so far. This works on XMPlay, too, though the global pitch seems to be lowered by 7 semitones and the instrument sounds aren't right. Not sure if this is the case in Winamp or not (I won't touch it with a 10-foot pole), so it may be an XMP-only thing. Anyone else confirm this? I can't...

    OrgMaker 2.0.5x

@Orfvar: Well, huh, didn't think about that, but you're right, it changes the .exe size either way. Are you trying to open it up in Sue's Workshop afterwards? Sadly, any editing after importing a custom .org will corrupt the .exe right now... a terrible limitation, sadly, though hopefully Chie's...

In Need of Help <Concerning ORG Maker>

This is... strange. It plays just fine for me. o_O I'm not quite sure what to say here. Everything works on my end. Hmm... maybe it's just your sound output being wacky or something? Do you happen to run Vista? Not sure if that would cause any wacky problems but it's always a possibility...

    OrgMaker 2.0.5x

Ehh, very odd here. Though if it makes a difference, I actually use "Resource Tuner", a ResHacker-like program which is supposed to be shareware but the "days left" counter doesn't work right... hehe. Maybe it knows what ResHacker doesn't, to pad the .exe back to original size. It works for me...
