Well, Cave story, in my opinion, is like a shorter, easier, but better La-Mulana. Both are somewhat similar, right? And I'd call both metroidvania. In short, no, I don't think Cave Story defines it's own genre. A great example, yes, but not another genre.

I don't buy games to support people, I buy them to play them. I'll probably buy the game when Nicalis patches it, though, just 'cause it's faster.

My joke was that the commentary was part of the game, since no intelligent person would let's play a game before people could get familiar with the game (not to mention some countries not being able to buy the game)

Why does everybody now want to support pixel by buying this game? If that was your only intention, why didn't you do it when you played the free game on PC by sending him money? He'd probably get more money that way than from this.
