perfectly true, but it seems ONLY team nine is in the core, meaning they were successful in finishing the labyrinth... they were also most likely a specially made team, made specifically for killing the core.

And the only robot from the surface other than Curly and Quote is beaten up severly, and the last troop of team 9. maybe it was that team?

I think he was misunderstood, he wanted to help, but they fled in fear, not knowing he wasn't going to hurt them, but after quote saved the island, they decided to approach him.
